If I could afford the Yachtmaster 2; I'd get it. But, the BNLR seems to be the way most would go.

Two thoughts: The BLNR is beautiful and iconic and the YM2 is gaudy and awful. To each his own...

I was on the same boat a few years ago. Eventually went with the BLNR.

Do you need the second time zone or just a watch to tell time?

better value? Depends how you look it. Obviously BLNR wins out on demand, and while that typically means it holds it's value well, there's also little or no discount to be had. Meanwhile you could probably pick up a YM2 for 20% or maybe even 30% off. IF you buy mint pre-owned, you're really getting in at a good value.
For daily use or even a one and only watch, BLNR hands down IMO. |

One I wouldn't wear if you gave it to me. The other is a future classic.

I'd wait to see the SS SkyD first.

The BLNR will wear better and IMO stand the test of time with the iconic design. I'm still not keen on the YM2 @ all.

In my opinion, BLNR for daily wear. The YMll is awesome but it's bigger. I was smitten but after trying one on at the AD for 30 minutes or so decided I don't like the way it wore for me. It felt top heavy and kept getting hung up my long sleeve shirt cuff.
Try them both on before deciding, it's an expensive lesson if you get the YMll and decide to flip later. |

Owned the BLNR for 2 years. Too small for me. I sold it and used the money plus extra and bought the YM2 SS you're considering getting.
I love my YM2 SS and don't miss the BLNR at all. |

Ive owned both and still own the BLNR. I really liked the YMII but I was never wild about the fit and comfort of it. With a GMT or Daytona you forget you are even wearing a watch. I never forgot when I was wearing the YMII. It's a great watch but I tired of it and flipped it after 6 months.

Based on your posts, your mind appears mostly made up. You'll certainly get no argument for choosing a BLNR over a YM II from nearly everyone. Having had both (albeit a YM II in two tone), I found the BLNR small and somewhat lacking in a general sense. Half of a bezel in blue just didn't move the needle for me. Obviously I'm in the great minority in choosing a YM II SS all day over a BLNR but...if you consider the price difference, about 4000GBP, you'd better be head over heels in love because you're a good ways into the price of another watch.

I have both. The BLNR is the more practical watch but if you want people to notice your watch, get the Yacht 2.

The "better" watch is the one you want to wear more.
I'd add that if you are unsure, I'd be more comfortable buying a BLNR at MSRP and would look to buy the YMII LNIB, since the YM depreciates a LOT more than the BLNR (for now). |
