He told me there're 2 waiting lists for the SS ceramic Daytona..
Today I walked in an AD dealer to buy a Rolex for my lady and asked about the stainless steel ceramic Daytona, the saleman told me that the waiting list (here in Silicon Valley home of Google, facebook,...) is very long, everyday someone walked in asked about it that they actually have 2 waiting lists: one for the casual walk-in potential customers which has few hundred names and another one for the actual customers which is much shorter.
I asked the guy to put me on the ceramic Daytona list and asked him to checked how many watches I have purchased from them...He came inside to check his computer and walked out with a stainless steel Daytona in a plastic container, I couldn't believe it but it's mine and it will go well with my other SS black dial (non-ceramic) Daytona...Yay. Right after I got my watch, another customer walked in and asked if she could buy a ceramic SS Daytona from the dealer...Of course she walked out empty handed. |

Congrats! Yes, let's see some wrist shots. I'm surprised you let it sit in the coffin for that long.

Congrats!
Contrary to many I applaud this approach. If I ran an AD you bet I would reserve the difficult to get pieces for my best customers. |

I think I followed that.
So this Daytona goes with the other? You plan on wearing one on each wrist? |

Congrats! I completely respect this approach, just jealous I don't have enough buying experience with one AD!

Very cool! Congratulations! Would you mind PMing me the AD's info? Looking for others besides Davidson & Licht and that one store in Stanford Mall.

Interesting story. Glad you got your watch!
I stopped by my AD a year ago, where I'd bought a few watches, and expressed interest in the new Daytona. To my utter surprise, within a month or two, the sales lady I normally deal with called me. She might be able to get one, she said, white dial--and asked if I was interested. Of course i was. White or black, no matter. Both are beauties. She'd helped get me my white Dial Daytona a couple of years before. So I made the necessary assurances, including a deposit, and a couple of days later was in the store, having the new watch fitted. It's a marvelous watch and I've enjoyed owning it and its predecessor. I wear them both. Just not at the same time. There is definitely a benefit to having an established relationship with one AD. Wear your new watch in good health, for years to come! |

Congrats on your new watch!
On the other hand, I think ADs should be honest with regular costumers and walk in or potential customers about the lists. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
