No, it's supposed to be bigger. The Press Release info straight from Rolex during Basel specifically stated that everything had been enlarged, i.e., case, bracelet, dial, etc. to insure proportionality of the piece. I just went and looked for it as a reference, but could not find it. It was posted several times shortly after the Basel announcement.

You will be surprised when someone took a caliper on it and show you it's still same dial size despite Rolex saying otherwise.

Curious--how so? To me it looks like a slightly enlarged Sub with some snazzy red lettering.

I'd hope the new releases would include a Coke, but I'd have a hard time not liking the new SeaDweller.

The endlink fitment wasn't something that needed "fixing". I think it looks awesome and adds extra character to the watch when you see it on your wrist.
Still on the fence about this new SD.

If you look at it outside the lens of the prior Sea Dwellers, there really isn't much not to like. I'm not personally interested in a watch this size, but it's a really good looking 43mm SubDate.

The new SD43 looks good.
A new ceramic SD should have been that way from the start, and maybe Rolex also thinks so, hence the short run for the 40mm SDc.
I think the SD43 will sell really well.

Will be interesting to see the SD43 in person to determine whether the dial is larger.
Given that the 3235 movement looks like a direct replacement for the 3135 (I believe both are 28.5 mm in diameter), and in pics, the date windows on both the Sub and the SD43 seem to be in the same position on the dials, that would suggest the same size dial.

Also in pics, the hands looks to be the same as those on the GMT and DSSD, which have wider hour hands than the Sub and 40mm SDc, and they appear to cover the same extent on the SD43 dial, which also suggests the same size dial.

The width of the ceramic rim on the bezel of the SD43 appears wider to me than on the Sub or 40 mm ceramic SD, and that could be how the overall watch size (and bezel diameter) is larger with the same size dial.
But won't know for sure until someone sees a SD43 in person and directly compares it with a Sub, or better yet, measures with a caliper.

On the 42mm Explorer2, was happy to see Rolex use appropriately sized hands and dials (particularly love the larger hands with greater lume--should have figured out how to use the wider dial and larger hands for the DSSD).
And perhaps Rolex has also developed specific parts just for the SD43.
But there are too many examples of Rolex recycling parts in what looks like cost-savings efforts:
- Should have used a larger date wheel (maybe larger diameter movement) on the DSSD and 40mm SDc to better position the date window on the dial, and would allow use of larger numbers for better legibility without a cyclops
- Same width removable links and clasps on DSSD and Sub, resulting in excessive tapering of DSSD bracelet from lugs to clasp
- First 39mm Explorer had same hands as 36mm Explorer, looking comically (T-rex) short on the 39mm

Nice looking watch and should appeal to the general population looking for something bigger than the Submariner and not necessarily purists or Rolex history buffs. May pay off quite well for Rolex. Cheers!
