16710 bracelet loose

So I just got my watch love it. But I'm kind of surprised at how loose and whimpy the bracelet is. Especially​ compared to most bands. Also vary narrow in my opinion. Long term was thinking of changing it to another bracelet.

Is this typical of a late 90s bracelet? The bracelet looks practically new so I doubt it's stretch. Or should I be concerned?

The older bracelet's are rattle traps, but they seem to last.

Does a late 90's bracelet now qualify to be called an "older bracelet?" That makes me feel older too.

I wear all my 5 digit/4 digits pretty snug.....I don't think they're anywhere near the feeling of tin cans but they do rattle a bit when shaken....I'd imagine this is far worse for people that wear their watches sliding up and down the arm/wrist. Personally I find the small jingle charming @ times when I move my arm/shake in a certain way. Never felt less than secure in any situation thus far.

A bracelet can look very new with a polish but still be stretched.

Oh Great Post!!!

I recently put the bracelet back on my explorer 2 after 3 years off it and it was squeaky and rattled and felt wimpy and lame. 1995 model so it has lug holes and non sel bracelet.

Yes, so - this is the older style - also what keeps me from buying a 1969 sub, the older bracelets are even worse :(

Great feedback guys. I think I am going to tighten it up a bit see if that helps.

Eventually thinking NATO or leather for the everyday haul.

While I own both, the 5 digit hollow center link bracelets just don't measure up to the new style all solid link bracelets and they do feel light and cheap. The bracelets and clasps Rolex is producing currently are in my opinion the best there is. No offense to the 5 digit hard core fans.

I love these "old school" bracelets.

Admittedly, they're not fancy. In fact, they are as simple in design as they are comfortable.

But they are also incredibly durable. And, if there is the need for a repair, it is a relatively inexpensive fix.

Consider that Rolex used that exact same bracelet design for decades! You'll be fine.

I bought a very late, D serial, Pepsi and I loved it... until I wore it. The bracelet, to me, was wafer thin (albeit in very tight and good shape) but simply could not wear it because of that. I was sooooo hope for a newer SS model from Basel this year, but oh well.

That is a non SEL (solid end link) bracelet prone to bracelet stretching.

SEL bracelets are generally less prone to stretch compared to the non SEL bracelets, and rattle less. It has an overall more rigid feel. As of today all Rolex professional models have SEL bracelets, with the last non SEL model the Rolex 14060m no date Submariner having been discontinued in 2012.

SEL has nothing to do with stretch. All the other links are identically constructed (assuming you're not talking about some vintage folded construction bracelet).
