Weird... Bracelet screw vibrated loose

Was playing golf today went to take my exp off to loosen up the bracelet and the screw right next to the clasp hinge worked its way out just enough to prevent the clasp from opening when I got home had use a screw driver to tighten it enough to open the clasp. Are you guys using Blue Loc-Tite on these screws?

It happens and some would use loctite to make sure it stays in. I don't do anything that active with my watches on usually and I've only seen it happen once after a chiropractor shook my arm long enough.....Usually screwed in tightly is good enough for day to day.

+1 I don't ever use loctite. If the screw is snugged up good I have never had a problem. I have purchased used watches were it has been used and what an ordeal trying to size a bracelet .. Not good!

Wow

Over 16 years I've had my 16710 Coke bought new and never had a screw back out. And it's a pure tool watch and has many miles log on it. And at one point 7 straight years and worn 24/7 until I cracked crystal and off to RSC. I do keep a closer eye on all my ceramics now.

You sure it's blue Loctite? I've been using blue Loctite for a decade on Olympic bows, watches, cars, and other applications subject to extreme vibrations (certainly more than watches will ever see) and I've never had a screw unintentionally back out.

It can happen. And yes, blue Loctite is the stuff you need

Don't use blue Loctite. Way too strong. I use purple 222MS.

Don't apply too much as if it gets in the middle unthreaded portion, it snags and gets unseated easier than with no Loctite at all.

This is very true. Learnt it the hard way, watch nearly few out because I applied the loctite wrongly.

Make sure the loctite is only applied sparingly on the threads.

I have to disagree, I was taught by the Rolex service centre where I did my internship to use blue Loctite on the screws. If Rolex recommends blue, it's blue.

Have to agree and thats what Rolex recommends you can use 221/222/223 they are all low strength ones and only use those no other. And to the OP use only a very very very tiny amount in the female part of the thread only. And for all on forum screws should be checked regularly for tightness.Just as they can screw in they can also screw out, with the friction bracelet link movement while on wrist.

I've unfortunately had this happen while riding a jet ski. Almost lost my Daytona near Daytona beach!!! Loctite is the way to go; but I have yet to get some myself.

Looks like you took your watch to be sized by the same AD that I did.

Never again will I make that mistake.

222 Loctite works for me.

Judging by your screw heads, you may want to get a proper screwdriver or a loupe 😁

I have a set of jewelers screwdrivers but my eyes are so bad for close up stuff its really hard for me to consistently get it properly on the screw head.

A simple trick is to apply clear tape over the area and poke through it with the screw driver. That'll help minimize peripheral scratches.

I also use purple Loctite 222 personally. The local Rolex authorized service center here uses something stronger (maybe blue?) that requires heating up to remove. Thinking of bringing my bottle of 222 next time I go in for a resize and asking him to use that instead.
