New RO chrono teaser on AP Facebook page?
Audemars Piguet Facebook page just posted a teaser video with this copy:
Coming soon. A novelty from Le Brassus https://www.facebook.com/audemarspig...WSFEED&fref=nf It is clearly a chrono RO, but it is little strange to announce new chrono and the SIHH RO novelties just hit ADs and boutiques... |

Interesting. Could they be dropping the in-house chrono now?

I'd love to see a 39mm chrono with in-house movement

No way they'd drop the in-house on a SS or gold ROC and tank the new releases. It'd have to be something like a ceramic ROC with SS release several years off.

Look at mclaren. Every year a new car. Every year the previous models go to sh** on the secondary market. They don't care. |

Can be a new color of the dial ?
It seems similar to the panda one but maybe with some tone of red added |

Video has a black and white filter on it I think. Looks like another chrono with contrasting subdials - must be the new in-house movement.

Can you see if the time and chrono button are aligned like in the roc?

If they drop an in-house after releasing the novelties and after a bunch of people bought them, it would be a pretty sh*t move ... though I imagine pricing will be a lot higher. Still .. I don't understand pissing off your fans (and customers ... case in point post # 11 above).
I guess there is always a first, but I agree with jem7v ... they just don't give a rat's ass. It would be sad.

Audemars Piguet CEO's, François-Henry Bennahmias, hinted at a near-term arrival of an in house chronograph movement in February 2017

Would a new chronograph likely be based on the 3120 movement, or do we anticipate AP would also be replacing this? I guess it's not too old and is generally well regarded, no?

The 3120 is not a chrono movement so I don't believe there would be any connection. Then again, I know very little about movements and watchmaking. If they drop an in house ROC a month after SIHH releases hit shelves instead of waiting until SIHH 2018....they are complete A holes. I already barely trust them given their unstable pricing models. This would be nuts and a bonafide slap in the face to recent buyers.

Surely the new inhouse would be trumpeted proudly at SIHH, and not released back alley style like this. More likely it's just a special edition, like the Italy.

I think you are right Neil. They would be stupid not to use SIHH to showcase a new movement.
