Sea dweller 116600 price rocket?

We all know the 116600 is the hot thing now. What is the estimated preowned price for a used 2016 piece? Is usd8.5k fair?

Resellers are already posting for sale at 9.5k in the US.

Speculation! But I hope the seller got the most out of it and buyer will profit from it in the future...Win/win kind of thing :)

One time I bought a $650 Seiko got it hyped up and sold it a year later for $2500, that was crazy.

Don't fall for the hype. The market is being driven by speculation. Asking prices and actual prices are a lot different.

This is totally true.

The HARD CASH BID on this reference hasn't budged since retirement.

The ASK Price is mostly speculation.

Time will tell if the inflated ASK prices will be sold frequently at that level or will they back off due to lack of movement...

Keep telling yourself that.

Selling prices, and not asking prices, have definitely jumped up since retirement. They have frequently SOLD between $8.5k and $9.5 easily for pre-owned ones. I don't see the prices falling.

Nah....

HARD CASH BID is the number to look at. It hasn't risen as of yet.

When dealers start PAYING MORE in CASH for stock, then it shows more than just speculative selling...

Not saying it won't happen, just saying it hasn't yet.

I tried one on this week. The salesman did the "buy it now and I can get you a special price" spiel. I really didn't care for the watch all that much so declined the offer.

There plenty that have been SOLD in the UK for over £8,500. They slowed since the biggest used watch retailer in the UK pushed the price over £9,000 but they've definitely sold at £8,500.

If we're on the same page here, they have three two-year old references on their website at £8,950 and a year old one at £9,250.

Personally, I'd wait it out because unlike the Daytona and D-Blue I don't think those process are sustainable. It was never a difficult watch to come by in the first place.

My bad, should've said 'those prices are not sustainable'. Damn auto-correct

Yes, they've reached a price that's slowed down sales. At £8,500 they weren't staying with that retailer more than 48 hours.

Based on my conversation with a forum trusted seller the wholesale price has gone up. They are paying more for used pieces then before and this was in April.

Just what one seller told me. They are a frequent poster in the for sale section and mentioned wholesale cost was up.

IMO, this piece is a WIS dream watch. The case shape, matte/satin dial and case size are all classic. If it only wasn't so thick it would be my favorite watch ever made. Buy, buy, buy.

I've been offered above the RRP for mine by 3 well known dealers. Anyone who says they haven't actually risen in value is dreaming.
