What would you do?
Ok, so i go ino my AD today to check on the watch i had ordered (SS DJ, blue dial). Why i am there i ask them about the 50th anniversary sub in passing and they say they have one. They show it to me, i try it on and i like it.
We talk a bit and they ask me if i am interested. They go on to ask if i would be interested in that instead of the DJ. The price they want is $4875 + tax. Is this a rare opportunity to own this watch? Will i see one again for retail anytime soon? Exactly how rare are these? Will i regret not taking it? What would you guys do? and would i be stupid to pass up an LV for retail? By the way this is my first Rolex. |

It seems like they're becoming more available now. If it's not smiling at you the way the DJ does, hold out. The opportunity will present itself again

Finding them and finding them at list is more and more common. Honestly, get the one that you REALLY want. Otherwise you will still get that one. Both have some very strong selling points, so it is all about personal taste. Let us know what you decide.

P.S. And why the hell hasn't your DJ gotten there already, that is still strange to me.

All those deliveries are brought in via a major company, my AD uses Fed Ex, so there is no reason it should be that slow. What are your thoughts on the LV?

I can probably speak for Daren here, You seem to have you heart set on the DJ ( I don't blame you), Take a look at the PAM line. These are fun, unique watches. That would give you an awesome pair.
I do like the LV, but you are right, the green doesn't go as a dress watch. As others have said, the LV is becoming more readily available. Hit you AD up for a discount or some freebies for the delay on the DJ. Good luck

If you like the larger 40 mm size, then the LV would be the one for you. However, if you're thinking dress then the DJ would be perfect.
Just one thing....the DJ is a mere 36 mm and will look fine as your FIRST Rolex; but once you get a 40 mm in the future, the DJ will start to look small and you may not be all that awe inspired by it as you are now. I say get the LV....and why on earth is the DJ taking so long? Good luck in your decision - JJ

I think the boat from China sank and they are making those replicas as fast as they can! I'm kidding, but that is strange, why is it taking so long.
As for the LV, I had the exact same situation as you. I went in to look for a Rolex and had my heart set on the SS Turn-o-Graph I believe it's called, red second hand, beautiful dark blue face, it was calling my name! But when I tried it on, I was pretty disapointed byt the size. It looked really tiny on my wrist?? Even the sales guy said it looked a little akward, so, he showed me a Seadweller. Now that size matched great. And boy did we start sweating like when JJ sees a new sheep running loose in the yard! I inquired about the SS sub, and they didn't have any, but he showed me the TT Sub, black face, gold shining in the light, I thought I was gonna drop a load right then and there. Took five minutes and I was waiting for it to get cleaned, adjusted, and paperwork drawn up! Everyone will tell you it's a matter of what you want, and they are right! I got mine because it matched me wrist better, and because I'm a weight lifter, the larger watch looked a lot better. It wears very well! But whatever your choice, do what want and what makes you happy! |

I would buy the LV because I prefer any sports watch over a DJ. You however should get the one you prefer.

I agree it's strange that the DJ is taking so long to ship. After all, they are not that rare.
I also agree you would be limited in what goes with the LV. I'm not a big fan of it personally, but, hey, that's why the man makes 28 flavors. If you really want a dress watch, stick with the DJ. But that's just MHO.

Dear Tony:
Been there many (MANY) times; trust me; the wait WILL be worth everything. You ordered the DJ because you fell in love with it; and you are desperate (as all of us) to get a new Rolex on your wrist; so you start looking at other 'in stock' models; but believe me, you will be satisfied (and VERY happy) as your dream DJ arrives; that is YOUR watch, you special ordered it; did not take it from current stock but had it shipped just for you....HOLD ON |

I have a couple PAN's and haven't got hooked on the accessory/strap thing (yet?)
I also have the AirKing in my lineup. It is small, but under a shirt sleeve it works very well. Don't have any issues with it's size. And they guys are right, not many ( if any) will notice your watch, especially under a shirt sleeve. And if they do, any Rolex is a good choice.
