Well said Tim. I wish it was more of a low key day than what it's evolved into.

In our household, it is also a time to reflect upon our remembrances of family members who have passed on as well.

I served 21 years in the U.S. Army and lost some friends. I salute those who paid the ultimate price on behalf of our Nation.

Thank you Tim for taking the time to remind us to keep this weekend in the proper perspective.

Memorial Day always brings with it a tide of emotions. I still remember my hand shaking as I filled out my friend's casualty feeder card. To me there is no more important day of the year than Memorial Day. A chance for a grateful nation to show our respect for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

As a quick reminder to all those who fly a US Flag on Memorial Day. It is kept at half staff until noon and then at Noon it is returned to full staff for the remainder of the day. More on how and why here:

Ex-military here......7 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.......I've had the unfortunate honor of carrying one of my brothers on my shoulder to his final place of rest.......it's a moment I will always remember.

While we pay tribute to our fallen heroes in November let me extend my gratitude to all the American military who have done so much for us. We will never be able to repay the debt.

Thanks for the post. Very important day.

A heartfelt thank you to those who serve, who have served, and those that paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms as well as the freedoms of others.

Cannot put into words the gratitude I have for our service men and women.

A heart wrenching photo. Thanks for posting Tim. It's often easy to forget the sacrifices made by our military as we go about our busy lives. This puts it in perspective.

Sorry for the Wikipedia post, but let's not forget why we have have a holiday on Monday.

Memorial Day.

We shall never forget those who have died.

I have had 4 friends killed in Afghanistan.

While I served we had ~ 24 that died under our care.

Memorial Day has been a challenge for me since I have served, it's a direct reminder that despite giving 100%, we still suffer loss.

I have been in healthcare since 2008, despite this death is still a challenge.

Serving in US Army, was a privilege and honer. We were tasked with a huge responsibility, but despite this we witnessed lives lost.

Please lift up those families, who have lost a loved one during their service.

Memorial Day is a time to remember, lost service men and women who have died during military operations.

They served for various reasons, but all sacrificed so that we can enjoy peace and freedom.

Some gave some, some gave all.

Never forget those days who never returned.
