5513 correct bracelet ?
Hello there,
this is my 1968 5513 Submariner and the bracelet it came with, I just want to check that its the correct style for the year, it has been polished and the definition on the Rolex symbol is rubbed , any comments greatly welcome, all the best "H" |

I think you should be looking for a 7602 rivit bracelet with 80 end links, the one in your picture is not a rivit bracelet, judging by the clasp I'd say you have a 7836 on there.

I've have another look through a jewelers eye, there are the following numbers 78380 above this there is the letter H, there is also 258 and 4 above 70, so if I'm correct this is a 1970 strap but is it for a Submariner? many thanks "H" |

1968 Sub, is this based on the dating charts found on the internet? I would think that a 9315 flip lock would be correct from 1969 which is the first year for this bracelet. 7206 rivet bracelets ended production in 1969 so that is also a possibility.
Your current bracelet is probably a 7836 or a 78360 which replaced the 7836.

It is basically two bracelets, made from a 7836 and a 78360.

Hi lee and thanks this clears things up in regards to what I have, at the point of sale it was pointed out to be a later addition but not that it was made up of 2 bracelets, I just need to know what came first the 7836 or the 78360 and were either used on 5513 Submariners? many thanks for all your help clearing up this matter, Cheers "H"

From the Seller,
Hi Lee, going back through my e-mails this is what the seller had told me at the point of purchase,
The bracelet is stamped 1970, consistent with the age of the dial/hands change and would likely have been replaced by Rolex at the same time as the dial/hands. The bracelet is the correct folded Oyster bracelet contemporary to the age of the watch, not the solid bracelet on later models, or the riveted bracelet on earlier models. The bracelet has some sag, as is always the case with folded Oyster bracelets, but there are no marks or scuffs at all, and it is in overall excellent condition. This begs the question, would Rolex combined 2 bracelets from different models? I also need to know what to do as the chances of obtaining a correct period one would be very remote and expensive, also if Rolex had done this what would they have put on? Again many thanks for any help on this matter. Rgds "H" |

Your picture shows a folded link bracelet which will be a 7836 and it has had a 78360 clasp fitted to it. My photo is from a 1968 UK Rolex Brochure which shows the 5513 fitted with a 6636 which is a stretchy link bracelet.

I will be getting back to the seller and I will let you know the out come as by saying that it was correct was the wrong thing to say especially seeing that its made up of 2 separate bracelets and neither intended for the 5513,.... disappointed here.... thanks for the guidance, all the best "H"

Its a learning curve and the bracelet isn't that critical in this case and can be resolved, moving forward the seller was recommended by another 2 watch dealers so it may be that this slipped through....? I'm here to learn as much as I can prior to purchasing my next Vintage Rolex, from my side I'm so glad I joined and that there's like minded, knowledgeable members here that are only too happy to give up their time helping out with issues such as my dilemma, Many thanks to all who have help with there input, kind Rgds "H" |

The 258 end links are for datejusts. A sub should have 280 or 380 end links.
It seems that the bracelet is an old DJ bracelet with a replaced clasp blade from a 78360 bracelet. |

End Links
by chance does any one know what the correct end link numbers would be for the 7206 bracelet circa 69-70's onwards? Cheers "H"
