Memorial Day - Cape Cod & Normandy, France

Visiting those who sacrificed for our nation. Also, to say hello to my parents who are among them.

With one son currently stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and another visiting D-Day Memorials and the American Cemetery in Normandy; My wife and I are very proud that our children respect, and value, what they were given by all who sacrificed for our way of life and our nations freedom.

Pictures taken today at Cemetery's in Bourne, Massachusetts and Normandy, France.

Very sobering seeing these memorials that signify each life lost. Rest in Peace, brave ones!
In my view, this is the depth and gravity of the meaning of 'sad'.
Blessings to those souls who sacrificed for their country and fellow man.
Thank you for posting these photos...

I found the cemetery at Normandy to be very moving.

Great picture of Theodore Roosevelt Jr's grave, son of President Roosevelt and winner of the Medal of Honor.

Thanks for the responses guys. Always humbling to walk the hallowed grounds.

Interesting story of how Roosevelt Jr earned our nations highest honor.

I went to the one in Normandy a few years ago, the amount of crosses is so vast and sad.

There are two American cemeteries quite close to where I live, (Henri-Chapelle, Belgium and Margraten Netherlands). Most of the soldiers there lost their lives during the Battle of the Bulge.

Those brave souls freed Europe and made it safe again Something that my grandparents were very thankful for.
