Sooner or later? Shopping for the wife
Last year, you guided me through my first Rolex purchase (purchasing a Milgauss for my son's graduation.)
After a year of seeing this watch on my son's wrist, my wife has been bitten by the bug. She has her eye on a 31mm Datejust 178240. Can anyone shed some light on negotiation of ladies watches? Are AD's more or less flexible on ladies pricing? Should I make the plunge now (visiting Canada this week), or wait until visiting Europe at year end? Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

I don't know about your area but in BC Canada for the most part the ladies sizes are not a popular seller what with many women choosing to go with the 36mm which I think are being designated as unisex now.
27-31mm "ladies" watches can be had for big discounts Canada is as good a place to buy so I wouldn't bother waiting for Europe Just me .02

I'd definitely recommend you ask for discount.
Ladies datejust models aren't as popular as sports models and the dealer may be willing to negotiate. Good luck |

It seems to me that the exchange rate and availability favors Canada over Europe.

Thanks for your input. My main thought was that the exchange rate favors Canada but the refund of taxes in the EU is a pretty penny.

Good luck with your purchase. My suggestion is to get a diamond version ( diamond dial, or diamond dial and bezel), depending on your price range and your wife's preferences. Somewhat more expensive, but significantly more feminine and can be dressed up better than no diamond versions. At least the diamond dial, well worth the price difference.

20% discount should be the minimum on that slow selling piece direct from AD. Probably get 25 to 30% off from a 'trusted seller'.

AD's will give 25% on most ladies models.
