Big problem

Local Patek dealer called me yesterday...5712 is in.
My AD called my today...SD43 is in.

Have a YG DD2 and a bluesy now. Somehow never really bonded with the two tone and miss the DSSD I sold to finance it. SD43 seems like a perfect replacement!

Was previously considering selling my DD2 for the 5712 (which is gorgeous) and keeping the bluesy. Making less sense though as I type this out...

Pretty sure I know what to do now but going to post anyway, lol. (may be a good deal on a ever so slightly used bluesy soon.)

Opinions always welcome! Ty!

You can't live a life of regret with a watch that just sits on the shelf... At least get the SD43 while you have the chance and sell the Bluesy to finance it. I'm on the fence with regard to the 5712 -- I like the watch aesthetically, but not enough to justify the price tag. Of course, I haven't seen one in the metal so maybe different when it's actually on the wrist? You could certainly get a few other things with the cash from the Nautilus if you're also having second thoughts... Good luck!

Idk i think i would just get the sd43 personally. The 5712 is cool but the rolex is likely a better diver in function and then you keep a dd2 which can also get wet but could easily understand if you flipped both for two.

Completely different animals. If you can swing it, the answer would be get both, if not then perhaps the SD43 for it's versatility first and then come back to the 5712. Then again I think the SD will come down to par value shortly and the Patek 57XX will hold a premium. Here's a Nautilus 5711 and SD43 together so you can get the idea. Good luck.

The 5712 is a stunner. A perfect dress watch if that is a way to justify it. I think you should get both!

If jewelry the Patek, but for real use and wear anywhere and often it's Rolex FTW. Had Pateks, but i really wear my timepieces so switched to Rolex and have been extremely happy.

Thank you all for the thoughts and for the photo. I can't swing both so a choice is necessary. :(
I'm going to try both on tomorrow and hopefully the decision will become easier. I do love the 5712 but think it may look small on my 8" wrist. Would love a 5990 for this reason but I just can't swing that at present.
Can't wait to put each on tomorrow. That's the only way to know!!

I'm not a fan of the 5712 so the decision would be an easy one for me.

I'd try to locate a 5711 or 5726

Seems like you're not happy with the 116613. Flip it for the SD43. Easy enough to reverse if you're not happy

I'm not a fan of the 5712 dial. If it were a 5711 blue dial I'd say by bye DD2 in a heartbeat. One thing you didn't mention is what dial you have on the DD2. It might help your decision regarding the 5712.

I have the Arabic ivory concentric dial, which I think is just stunning. Maybe it's just me but I think it will be even more desirable in the future as it is exceedingly lovely and a relatively small run.

Not sure about owning both the 5712 and SD43. I think I would prefer one daily stainless and one PM.

Heading out now to see the new pieces in person! 50/50 I'll do a 180 lol.

I prefer the DD2 over the 5712 but would part with it for other Pateks. Or possibly look at the DD40 WG green anniversary dial as a replacement to the DD2.

Thoughts on the 5711? I prefer it to the 5712 myself, and you could have it plus the SD43 if you flip the bluesy (for about the price of the 5712).

The 5712 looks absolutely amazing in person. I've pretty much decided to pick it up tomorrow although I'm going to sleep on it.

On the bright side for you guys...good deal on Bluesy and my fav DD2 soon if I do it.

Tough one. Sounds like you're moving forward on the 5712, so I won't comment except to say if I was in that boat I'd probably try for a 5711/SD43 combo.

But...you can never go wrong with a grail watch, either.

I would flip the DD2 for the 5712 - I am not a fan of the DD2... would be different if it was the current DD.

I'm going to sell both the DD2 and the Sub, then save a little for an SD43 down the road. Just can't swing both at present.
