My new Canon G9 catches the 8 beats per second on my Sub.

WOW!!! That is really amazing.

I did something funny the other day. I held my Speedy on one ear and the Sub on the other hearing the ticking for about 5 minutes. First I thought they ticked at a lag in between and then they started ticking together for sometime before they separated again. The difference between 7 and 8 became clear.

Hi,

It was set to Macro on Shutter priority at ISO 80 for quality, aperture of f8 for the depth of field and shutter speed at 1 second. No flash. The camera was on a mini-tripod and set to 35mm which is the best focal length for macro on the Canon G9. Lighting was my bedside lamp!

Thanks again for all of the kind comments.
