Authorized dealer damaged my rolex
Hi there,
Looking for advice please. See pictures below. Bought a datejust 5 months ago and took it back to the jewelry store to move a link. The person that worked on it deformed the screws, scratched the links and left a screw partially out. The store manager wants me to bring it in and said they can probably buff the scratches but that will not be acceptable in my opinion. What do you think? Thank you. |

I would ask for the replacement screws.
Regardless Tom at D's time service in downtown can take care of you he has the screws if needed and will fix the scratches on the side of the bracelet don't stress too much

New screws and a polish will fix that, but I wouldn't feel comfortable letting that AD do it.

Oh no..... I feel your pain! Please keep us informed on how it turns out....
I have always been afraid to bring my watch back to the AD to have any work done. But does it happen once in awhile (that a AD damages a watch) or is this an extremely rare occurrence? |

If that's what they did to the screws, I sure as hell wouldn't trust them to know how to polish it properly.

Have them replace every link they damaged. Replacing the screws won't make it look right as the screws are cut/fitted to the link at the factory.

That is awful! It looks like a child did the work.
Please do yourself a favor and buy a bergeon 1.60mm screwdriver. Amazon sells them for like $25. Rolex links are surprisingly easy to move/remove yourself. |

This happens far far too often. As far as I know, Ads are provided a bracelet resizing kit from Rolex which includes hollow ground screwdriver and bracelet holder. The fact that employees are not properly trained to size a bracelet and do immense damage to the bracelet pins and links is totally unacceptable! I have always sized my own bracelets and is a simple DIY job. Also plenty of videos on YouTube for this.

You need to disclose which place in San Diego mauled this watch.....I would not take the watch back for polishing who knows who will do the work. Per previous poster, go to Tom at D's Time service he'll set this right in about ten minutes...that's unacceptable.

Amateurs! As others stated, I'd demand screws and damaged links to be replaced. Also, name and shame them. Unacceptable for a watch that cost thousands of dollars.

That's bad. Much worse than me having an attempt. Looks like they don't have the proper tools.
This is why many ADs refer you to the service centres for even a simple thing like resizing. At least at the centres, they have the best tools - like correct sized high quality steel screwdrivers that won't damage your screws or lose their fit and scratch the surrounding areas. |

Thank you everyone! The person that did it was a sales lady (very rude if I must say) not the watch repair technician.
Going tomorrow, I'll start by asking to have the links replaced and I'll keep you all posted. |
