It wasn't in the article you linked, but I read this in another article.

Quote:
Authorities say Bonds is a career criminal who was on parole for a 2013 robbery in Syracuse and had been arrested for a previous attack on a police officer using brass knuckles.

Just keeps happening. Interesting how CNN decides NOT to mention anyone's race in this particular story.

Senseless, heartbreaking tragedy. A mother of 3 killed for no apparent reason. RIP, officer. May her family find peace.

Agreed... and stopping to get food seems more risky now a days too. Back about 8-10 years ago having a sit down meal was fine. Now you have to think about.

Cowardly.

Officers can't relax for one second even when sitting in their "office" ( a vehicle.) So stressful to be at that high state of readiness your entire 8, 10 or 12 hour shift. Draining.

This shooting hits very close to home, spent six months in the 46 Precinct in 1992 as the platoon commander on 4x12's. A very tough neighborhood. RIP Officer Familia.

Be safe out there brothers.

I'm still a member of our officers assn even thought I'm retired. I was in a meeting yesterday with the guys including two new rookies. They told me that in a larger city close by that they had advertised for 6 open positions and had only four applicants! 15-20 years ago a posting like this would have drawn at least 100 applications. Very few want to go into this line of work anymore, so very sad.

RIP. Jesus, this has got to stop. These officers are here to protect us. WTF is going on?

Sorry, I realize no politics allowed, but murdering police is unacceptable.

Horrible !!

We had 2 police sitting in a pizza resturant I think 2 years ago in uniform and someone walked up to them and killed both. I was in shock for a few days. I couldn't believe it. In college for one if m class assignments I did a ride along with cop who now is the sheriff of our department and quite interesting and I was a reserve officer from about, right out of college until I got married. Just a few years tho as the community grew they were so short staffed and huge budget cuts at the time. Like 15-20 hours a week
