Unless you are referring to some sort of obscure euphemism... I grew pineapples when I was living in the Cox Peninsula in the Top End. And Mangoes too!

Since it takes so long to grow one I simply don't have the time and was wondering if anyone else had the patience. |

Do they require a lot of maintenance?

So with little maintenance are you worried about wasted space or that you might not be around when they fruit?

No kidding? I thought it was reasonably quick. My wife likes to grow things and produced a Pineapple a year or two ago. I didn't realise the damn thing had a two-year gestation.

You can only smuggle 2 pineapples successfully at a time. Not much profit in it.

I'll stick to the grocery store. Can't imagine they'd survive here with the harsh winters.

Edit: I forgot to add the 2 weeks in water prior to planting so add that to the total time.

We are growing this in my office. We don't have to worry hot or cold since it is indoors. It's almost ready to pick! Threw in a G-Shock picture for ya too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's not about time Mon, you've hugged it in a vodka glass before it's grown up.

Hey Mon... so growing the pineapple from the cut off top is a slow process. But once the plant has established it should produce offshoots (pups) and those will flower and fruit much quicker and more frequently. With enough plants in good soil and regular water and a year round hot climate you can find yourself eating pineapples all year.

Also, if you plant them indoors you need to plants so then can pollinate one another.
