Collection Grows From 3-4 Watches
As collectors, we go through different stages related to quantity and quality of watches. I recently went from 3-4 watches and I noticed that it has made a difference as I wear all of the watches in a rotation. I only get watches that I plan to wear as I am the type of person who wants to use the watches before they are passed down to my children.
With 4 watches, I find that I am less likely to wear them for two weeks (as I did with 3 watches) as I am to eager to wear one of the other 3. My long term collection would be to have a total of 6 watches and my guess would be that it would be a challenge for me to manage as I typically don't wear a watch for a few days. It takes me about a week to feel the uniqueness of each of the watches. To those of you that have about 6 watches and wear all of them, for how long do you wear each of them and how does that number of watches in a collection work for you. Thanks Stephen |

Collection Grows From 3-4 Watches
I found naturally the more I had the less I wore them and tended to gravitate to one or two. Weird but true. I'm down to a core 3 and it feel great. I get a good rotation and appreciate all 3. Having had as many as 7-8 at one time I think my perfect number is 3-4.

I wouldn't buy a watch just to have in the collection. I may be alone here but I see absolutely no fun in looking at a box full of nice watches all that matters to me is whether I will enjoy wearing them

I'm a 3-4 watch kinda guy. Any more than that and I'd be too distracted.

Owning more than 6 Rolex references I find that they are worn for undetermined lengths of time and are chosen at the time the decision to wear that reference is made.
I know that is a random answer but I have found there is absolutely no pattern nor plan to how or when I choose to wear my different watches. Obviously if I'm traveling one of my GMT's will be chosen; if I'm at the beach or on the water one of my divers will be chosen and a lot of outdoor activities call for my explorer II. So it does have a variable reasoning but sometimes I will pick one to wear to a specific event and come home to take it off when I change. Other times I will wear that watch for weeks without thought of swapping it out. By the way, that is a beautiful 126600! ...still waiting on mine. |

I currently have 6 and wear 5 of them at least once a week. The only one that doesn't get worn is a vintage TT DJ.
I rotate regularly between my DD2, Smurf, BLNR, SubC, and Polar ExpII. However, I have three more on my hit list. |

I've also had 6 in the past but have consolidated to 3 pieces. I feel I enjoy them more. I always felt there were watches that didn't get enough wrist time, and when I wore them i couldn't wait to take them off and wear my favorites, so decided to go down to 3 pieces I really love.

I found that if I've had 5 or more in the box...as others have said, I typically found myself only wearing 3-4. Thinking 3-4 is my sweet spot
Currently making decisions and consolidating:) |

I currently own seven watches. My 16570 is worn daily on weekdays and I wear one of the other six on weekends. Occasionally if I'm going out during the week I'll switch out the Explorer. I'm sure some may find it annoying but I actually enjoying rotating all of mine occasionally and winding/setting them.

I have been at 5 three times, never more.
I may hit 6 soon, but that is enough. I have found I like an all colored gold and all white gold watch, a rose on rubber, a white face watch, a SS Rolex beater (favorite is Hulk). I am pushing into a dress watch finally. That is 6. Mainly Rolex and one maybe two PP's. |

My collection has grown to 9 ( 3 rolex, 2 PPs, 1 Omega, 1 IWC, 1 Tudor and a seiko). I do wear them all but I feel that i need to come back down to 5-6.

+1 (4 Rolex, 2 PP, 1 FPJ, 1 JLC, 1 Tissot). The problem is I love them all, but there are some I scarcely ever wear, which seems a bit daft.

3-4 is a good working number of watches. My issue is which 3-4. The SD43 look great.

I am not a Rolex only person but do have a 10 watch collection. Two are beaters I wear doing yard work, garage work or on a factory floor(G-Shock, Marathon). Three are pretty casual/diver/funky (Sinn, Omega, Seiko) But 5 are the ones I'd wear to the office, business travel, out on the town, etc. (Rolex, Ball, Panerai, Omega and Grand Seiko). I rarely wear the same watch 2 days on a row and almost never 3 days unless I'm traveling. Just like shirt, shoes and belt...I pick a watch that suits what I'm wearing and where I'll be going, and with a few the weather comes onto play. Yes, I suppose watches are jewelry for me.
I like Rolex but there are too many great brands out there to get too heavy in any one brand. |

I love them all and wear them when it's fitting. I'm not at a point of consolidation yet, but I try to be picky about adding only items that I'll really love and will wear. |

Typically I'll wait until whatever I'm wearing runs out of power reserve. That usually happens over the weekend - then it's time to swap out and wear another.
If I have to wind it or set the time; it goes to the back of the line in rotation. |

I'm at 4 right now and wear one for two weeks at a time. If I like the new WG Daytona on the Oysterflex band, then my current Daytona and Explorer will go.
I'll then be down to three, 116519, 116619 and 116719.

Down to three. White gold Daytona, white gold Cellini and a manual-wind Grand Seiko. Works for me; i get to use them. It is a struggle, but i really want to stay at three watches...

4 or 5
I've had 5 watches, but currently down to 4 and thinking of going back up to 5. Only because I want a particular watch and I'm not sure I want to sell one of my current watches.
I may wear the same watch for one week or two months before I switch watches. I wear a watch until I get tired of it and then rotate to another watch that I'm feeling at the moment.
