Insurance Question

I was talking to a friend of mine, the comment was interesting. Why have watches and/or jewelry on your homeowner's policy? Why not have a separate policy, aside from the homeowner's, this way, if a claim has to be made, it does not place the house at risk, or policy at risk, for future surcharges or cancellations.

It was a good question, and got me thinking. Do policies like that exist, specifically for watches and jewelry, that protect against loss due to theft, fire, flood, or other ways?

yes they do and i keep mine separate from homeowners for this reason even if adding it to homeowners is cheaper, which it usually is.

Related question:

Considering the added value of original box and papers, if these were ever lost or destroyed by fire, house pet, or deranged spouse, would JM pay a partial claim? (or would they consider that WIS lunacy?)

Good question, I'd say WIS lunacy though.
