Age Appropriate Rolexes?

At what age is a Rolex appropriate? Affordability and practicality aside, is an appreciation of fine watches (regardless of age) the key determining factor?

The bracelet on that child's Rolex was obviously 'fitted' and hopefully his parents saved the links for future growth spurts.

6 months is fine if it'll help with teething and keep the kids quiet.

That's a tough one, but I suppose maturity vs. age would come into play.

Thanks for your concern Flavio. Yes, it's an actual OP about watches with just a dash of absurdity tossed in for seasoning.

Hard to put an objective number on it. Too many variables...

I was into watches in my early teens. My family was more old school, you had to work for nice things, so no way my parents would give me a Rolex, even as an adult.
My Dad did give me a nice Zodiac diver when I was 14, for a sports accomplishment. Not sure that constitutes earning it, but I think more so he loved his Omega Speedy and the Zodiac was a gift from my Mom that he really did not wear, so win win for Dad!

I cherished that watch. Still in the family. My Mom still wears it.

Couldn't stand what Rolex represented until the age of 40, but I come from a very old and conservative bloodline shall we say, and Rolex always had a special negative factor attached to it in my circles, at 18 my parents offered me a watch, it could, have been Rolex, the AD had them, I said no way and chose a Breitling chrono, clearly the wrong choice, but didn't want anything to do with Rolex at the time

Put is it a pure bloodline? Half-bloods need not apply.

I can't conceive of any circle that would disapprove of Rolex yet not laugh a Breitling out of the room.

this is more about common sense than bloodlines or class. a 7 year old is not going to appreciate a Rolex and has a good chance of breaking or losing it

Patek and ap I guess. Inventing the waterproof wrist watch and circular date wheel is apparently irrelevant compared to a decorated rotor.

Curious. Would a smaller (under 40mm), vintage-era Tudor Mini-Sub/73090 have been a better watch choice? While this particular youngster will eventually 'grow into' a Rolex Submariner, it looks a bit ostentatious and a tad oversized for his age/dimensions. Then again, a decision to allow a child to wear a Rolex to grade school as an everyday watch is probably more reflective of one's parents values and boundaries.
