SS GMT II & Air King spotted in London

I was on New Bond Street in London this evening (17:00) and spotted a SS GMT II & an Air King in the window display at Wempe. If you're in the market for one of these, you better get there ASAP before a tourist grabs them.

They also had a YG Bluesy Sub which looked gorgeous.

Spotting such in London is like catching a glimpse of Nessie or finding fur from a Sasquatch!

The Loch Ness monster, now there's a blast from the past. No one really mentions it anymore. I still like the blurred photo of it crossing the Loch, proves it must be real, even thou it looks like a wheelie bin floating along that some little urchin threw in.

Also, a friend of mine picked up an LV from the same store yesterday. Maybe things are looking up for us Brits.

Did your friend just walked in for the LV or was he on the waiting list prior to that?

Apologies Kelv, I missed your question. He went in about six weeks ago, however they don't do lists. They asked him to pop in once a week to see if there was one in. He did so on a fortnightly basis until he became friendly with them and then he got a call telling him there was a Hulk in if he wanted it. He was abroad at the time and they even held it for him for a week. Great service!

I keep seeing posts about low availability in the UK. I don't get it... What's the deal with that? Seems like the demand is high.

Weak GBP because of Brexit. They don't want to raise the price but instead are flooding the US market as the Dollar is strong now, giving the Swiss more money per watch for the same price.

Is the air king popular? It's ugly.

I enquired about an Air King in a nearby ad today, and was told that their next allocation was due shortly and was already sold, and that they would be lucky to see another AK ' this side of Christmas'. I did hear him comment to another customer about rumours of a price increase, so maybe he was not telling the whole truth, and was perhaps doing a bit of stockpiling. Looked a a Tudor North Flag, far too big for my liking, so didn't bother.

I've just today traded a fully stickered, unworn new model AK to a dealer.
If you want dealer details send me a PM.

It's absolutely absurd that these watches are hard to come by in the UK

I have to thank the Duke of Dulwich for his eagle eyed efforts. I bagged the GMT this morning and now have it on my wrist. I have been after this watch for ages.

If any of you are the gentleman that came into the shop asking after the watch whilst it was being sized for me then please accept my commiserations and best of luck next time

In the last 5 weeks I have seen 4 air kings, 2 GMT LN and 3 explorer 1s. I do work in the west end and take a stroll most days on my way to get lunch

Yes EXP2 and Milgauss are everywhere. I saw a sea dweller the other day too which is the only one I've seen. Mappin and webb on regents street has the most varied collection of stainless steel watches

I bought my SD from the window at WoS royal exchange and my SD43 from NYC. Dealer in NYC had 2 arrive.

Wemp also had the batman in stock so supply in NYC appears quite different to Uk.

SD4k were in most UK windows until they were discontinued.

I can imagine SD43 being in USA windows but we don't have that luck here. We have price on our side but just not availability lol

To be honest I prefer the weight of my SD4K so the SD43 isn't being worn .

The relative size difference is very apparent along the other models.
