Does anybody not like the DateJust 41 ?

Every thread and article I read has nothing but praise for the 41 , Ive not heard anyone say a bad word about them yet.
I'm going to get one in a few weeks but in the interested of fairness lets hear some constructive criticism ?
What are the 41's bad points ?

Wish it came with a hidden clasp.

This is probably the only real criticism that comes to mind.

That being said, I don't think it looks terrible with the clasp they've used. You also get a little bit of flexibility in terms of adjustment.

I'm a relatively young guy at 35, but I think they did amazing with this model. The proportions and those fat markers on the DJII always seemed off to me.

The DJ41 just seems like the timeless classic Rolex.

This my gripe too. I really like the jubilee bracelet. To me the clasp looks out of place because it doesn't carry over any of the styling features of the jubilee. Seems like a bin part randomly added to the bracelet rather than an integrated design.

I don't fully disagree with you but the easy link in NYC humidity is perfect!!

It's actually my only gripe

Otherwise wish they did a few sunburst green dial options that would be made to look similar in dial to the LV or Daytona green dial. Those would be pretty awesome in white metal DJ 41 IMO

Main downside for me is the hold it's taken on my brain since the first time I saw it. I wish it would just leave me alone.

Until I can buy it.

The only "negatives" I hear mentioned are: (1) it may be a little more dressy than sporty, especially with classic confit of fluted bezel/jubilee bracelet, and (2) that because it is so classic/iconic, some consider it to be a watch more for the, ahem, "mature" among us. Personally, I love it and hated what Rolex did to the bloated DJII.

Agreed.

Of course there's always the Oyster bracelet to tone it down and add a more modern/youthful flavour to the watch.

Other than the movement, I like the DJII better in terms of how it feels on the wrist.

The DJII feels more solid to me.

The DJII is exactly what I wanted the DJ to evolve to. More modern sporty and larger in proportion. It's a youthful bold take on the classic DJ.

I like DJ41, a lot. It is beautiful. It's classic style will never go out of style.
I was eyeing a Two Tone Chocolate Dial with diamond markers a few weeks ago, but ended up getting a Deepsea SD blue instead. I still think about getting one one day, but are always drawn to the rare/harder to find sport series.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^

Essentially this sums it up for me, without trying to turn this into a DJ41 vs DJ2 debate.

The DJ41 is a beautiful piece, as most all Rolex are, but like Grady Philpott also says, the DJ36 is probably the quintessential Rolex.

Rolex clearly went back to the 'traditional' and familiar DJ36 proportions with the DJ41. Having slipped a DJ41 on the wrist at my AD I would not trade my DJ2 for one, but I've also read that those who have both have commented that the 41 comes up a lot smaller than the DJ2, which either suits or it doesn't, that's down to personal taste.

So to answer the OP's question, its not I dislike the 41, I just prefer the DJ2 for the polar opposite reasons why 41 owners prefer their 41's over the DJ2.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

It'll be interesting in 5 - 10 years from now to see how the 'old' DJ2's are viewed compared to peoples opinions of them now.

Mine has become one of my favorites. I thought I'd wear it on special occasions but soon realized I have no special occasions. So I wear it to work fairly often and when I retire soon I will wear it at home.

Still love the 16600, DSSD Blue, Sub C, and Daytona C however. So many choices.

Don't like it: size, not having a concealed clasp and the numbers printed above the batons.

My toughest decision is rhodium or blue dial with fluted bezel and Jubilee. I have been holding off as I am on the list for the Skydweller in steel and if I do get that one, I likely won't get the DJ41 and vice-versa.

I don't like the DJ at all and never have.

UNTIL

I tried on the DJ41 with dark rhodium dial and I instantly fell in love.

Apologies as I have used this photo before but this thread is lacking the ever needed photo !!!

That's the one I'd get if I had some figures on the level of magnetism resistance of the 3235 movement. I figure the movement must have substantial resistance but I would like a figure since I often get close to electromagnets.

While vastly improved from the DJ 2 the watch is too large IMO , especially with the fluted bezel. It wears larger than a modern sub and just does not look right to me. A very dressy sportswatch. This my personal taste only it is a well built watch and I can understand and appreciate it, it just does not resonate with me.

It's too big. 38 or 39 mm would have been perfect.

It measures 39.5 fwiw.

I'm with the DJII folks; I like that model better.
