I have the platinum Daytona in my sights
I honestly don't know where to begin so here goes , since I first saw the platinum Daytona I've thought that watch is something else ! A flash watch with a sense of style , cool looking , yet business it sort of captures everything to almost everyone .
The draw back is the mega bucks price but I've waited and watched and I've managed to source a 2015 mint with box and papers with almost 20k off the new list price which is 55k . The concerns I have are paying 36k for a watch is mega money still and will they become cheaper and cheaper / lose more money ? I've spoken to a watch dealer friend of mine and he says there the best watch Rolex have ever produced of course that's a matter of personal opinion . But he also thinks there now at a bargain price and should be snapped up . What do you guys think about the watch and there values ? Also if any of you out there own one please comment about how they wear and do they also scratch up easy ? Many many thanks . |

I don't see any advantage over the steel version, unless you like the brown & baby blue colour combo. I've tried one on, and it is a very, very heavy watch. I'd get the steel one and save over £20,000.

It's a great watch but it's hard to say if the used price will come down much more

Even if you buy at 55k you'll lose 7 to 10k if you try and flip it. Be certain.

£36K sounds like a good price to me, but contact WF, Chronext or Blowers and get quotes from them and see what they are offering and if north/south of 30K.

You really want it; so do it. No hesitation, no asking questions on the forum, no financial calculations.
Just do it. |

It,s up to you man, will it be cheaper next year?, probably, will it scratch, yes, is 36k a good price, if you think so.
Will it make your life a happier place to live in if you put it on your wrist? |

Why would anyone else's opinion matter? There will be some who'll say don't and some who'll say go for it. You'll be none the wiser.
Do yourself a favor and make a decision. The rest of the world don't matter..

I value all opinions good or bad lets hear what you have to say .
We all love watches that's why where here . What is hard to swallow is that you can buy 6ish steel sports for the price of the used platona 😀 |

Well since we're sharing opinions, my opinion is that even if you think everyone else's opinions Do Not matter somehow, you should still use the correct phase "doesn't matter". That's like me saying "I does not own a Platona" |

Well...it's a huge decision, so overthinking is fairly natural, IMO.
I guess the inhibitor for me has been would I rather have two PM pieces for that money...and I would. Also, not a huge chronograph fan, so it's not my dream watch. But...if this was my grail and I wanted it above all others, then I would probably pull the trigger. |

I bought a two month old one in December. They don't seem to be any cheaper now than then, but I don't plan to ever sell it. Does it make me happy every time I put it on? Yes! Is it heavy? Yes! Does it feel heavy after it's on my wrist for a minute? No. Would I buy it again? In a minute.
I couldn't be happier with it, and struggle to wear my old trusty DJ for a day or two a month. I wear mine 28 days a month or so, and all day other than when exercising or playing sports, and I don't think it looks scratched up at all. I could see hairline scratches on the clasp within a day or two, but I never notice any imperfections. It's beautiful, comfortable, and durable. The perfect watch for me. Is it the perfect watch for you? I don't know.
