Boutiques Not Taking Deposits on 15202 or Blue 15400

Yesterday I called all of the boutiques in the US. NYC said no deposits on the 15202 or 15400 blue until 2018. Miami said not until 2019. Beverly hills just said not taking deposits at this time. Vegas told me I can put down a full deposit, but they could not give me a time frame beyond "at least 6 months." I offered full deposit each time I called. I found this a little strange, but I guess it explains Govberg selling a 15202 for over $25k.

That's crazy! Again I wonder if it's a knock-on effect of the PP 5711 going to crazy prices - people turning to the 15202 and 5167 as an alternative.

Govberg is selling a pre-owned 15202 for $25,950. Crazy.

So stupid. I can't wait for the market to tank. They will be offering an old fashioned to anyone buying these at the boutique within a year.

It's crazy. I've noticed over the past few weeks, prices on several models (new and preowned) have crept up. There are still plenty available, so I don't know what's causing it. Doesn't affect me. I got my 116613LN a few weeks ago and have been offered a 20% discount on a new Tudor BB with ETA from an AD. May have to pick that up.

I'm with you Neil. I've been through three economic downturns and they all seemed to have one thing in common leading up to them: unnecessary items selling for way over retail. Now there are at least 5 watches that sell over retail: 116500, 5711, 5131, SS Skydweller, and now the 15202. Anyone seen a 5167 lately BNIB for retail? Me neither, so make that 6 models.

I'm saving my money for the next downturn and discount.

Well that's in the US which seems to be the last to be getting the price squeeze, in the UK , Europe and Asia this squeeze is going on more than a dozen popular models now. Feels a bit like Feb 2000... just before the dotcom crash...

Oh, and I'm Neil, he's Tom.

connecting watches selling over retail and overvalued tech stocks in the late 90's or to the housing market in 2008 is a bit of a stretch.

3 things were being speculated on, but they are not remotely comparable.

People made billions selling junk mortgages prior to the housing collapse. Watch speculators are making peanuts in scale.

With watches specifically, scarcity is fueling demand in many cases and is good business. If some of these watches were readily available the same people who want them now might not even buy one. People want what they can't have and will jump through all sorts of hoops to get it.

Yes, but it's the same principle, huge over-demand drives up prices in both markets, only difference ofc is in financial markets there are short sellers and down betters so climbing markets will inevitably crash when enough signals are given to enough bears to trigger their positions. Watch market consists almost entirely of bulls ie enthusiasts so prices have no reason to crash, just to stabilise, which when prices are rising as rapidly as they are now I actually find even more unsettling. It's a strange one.

i think it's too different a watch to have this effect felt in its direction, but hoping it won't raise prices of FPJ CB.
dying to try this on.

I was in Vegas this May and a 15202 was on the display at a store adjacent to the Venetian. No deposit required.

Don't feel bad. I passed on a brand new one for 23% in June of 2016. I'm the dumb one.

I had the opportunity to purchase a 15202 blue dial in Bal Harbor AP boutique in May but didn't go for it. Now I want it. Human nature. Go figure.

Well, I had the opportunity to buy a 15202 from the Hong Kong boutique in March with a small discount. When I went back in July, they had it in stock, but were firm on no discounts.

At least now, I don't feel as bad paying full list price for it.

That's perfect for me, as I don't need/want any new watch, the idea that the ones I have raised in value is nice, ok would take a bath on the KV but will sell it before being homeless, which shouldn't be soon

What explanation did they offer?

Valuations on Chrono24 are as they were, generally speaking...but it is surprising to see relatively few pieces available...various London-based grey market dealer's websites also show no stock.

Corporate policy and they need to fulfill existing deposits before taking anymore.

I was at the NYC boutique in person during the PP Exhibition in July. The sales lady told me if I wanted a steel 15202, to put a deposit down and I'd have it in a few months. 6 weeks later and now they're acting like this is a PP5711 blue dial. WTF!?

I'm hoping when I have the funds to buy a RG or YG 15202 in 2-3 years, the prices will collapse and I can get a discount on it.

You can easily get a 15202or with a discount. I was offered one brand new from AD for ~$40k a few days ago.

That is strange, I bought my 15400 blue dial from Beverly Hills, they had one to me in a few days - no discount. Call Ebony there and tell her Bryan sent you.

Thanks for the referral, Bryan. I'm actually looking at purchasing a 15400 with a blue dial and called Ebony last Friday, as you suggested - kudos!

She told me, however, that they will only receive another one of those on the second quarter of 2018 and there is 1 other customer in front of me on the line.

When I was in Vegas last october the AP boutique told me and even showed me paperwork of few people had even paid for the watch in full and would have received them by the end of year.
I was told if I'd paid a full deposit then would get one within 6 months.
I was on list in UK but then in Feb was told by my AD it was boutique piece only.
So in May paid deposit at Geneva boutique and got the call few weeks ago that it as arrived.
Finally getting around to picking it up next week , currently sitting in the safe factory sealed in those patek like cardboard boxes they now ship in :-)
