FS: Vintage 1950s Omega Seamaster ref. 2576 cal. 344 Bumper Automatic

Up for sale is this lovely reference 2576 Omega Seamaster featuring a bumper automatic caliber 344 movement, desirable "Beefy Lug" case and original waffle dial with Breguet numerals at "12," "3" and "9." This handsome watch dates to circa 1952-53 and the all stainless steel 3-piece case does not appear to have ever been polished. The warm ivory-toned honeycomb guilloche dial is all-original as well. This early 1950s Seamaster is in Very Good overall vintage condition and has a classically elegant mid-century look. I also had it fully serviced when I bought it a few years back so I will guarantee it for 6 months of normal, non-abusive use.

The asking price for this classic Omega Seamaster is $1075 USD OBRO, which includes fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire is always appreciated but Paypal is also OK on this watch with split fees (+2% to the buyer). Other payment options upon application. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS.

CASE & BACK: Classic and beautifully proportioned gent's dress size measures 34.5 mm wide not including crown by 41mm long. The all-stainless steel 3-piece case features Omega’s trademark "Beefy Lugs" of this era with wide, press-on bezel and water resistant screwed back. The case has marks from the years but no polish that I can tell, with sharp chamfers and original finish to the sides and bezel. There are certainly some nicks & scratches as this watch was clearly worn and enjoyed throughout its life but it’s still in Very Good vintage condition. The caseback is in Excellent+ unpolished condition with only minor marks and very sharp early pre-Hippocampus “Seamaster” engraving. The inner case has negligible corrosion and all Omega nomenclature of the period is present, including the correct 2576-7 reference number. It's very difficult to find one of these Seamasters with an unpolished case and rather special to see those handsomely chamfered fat lugs as the manufacturer intended them to be even after all these years.

DIAL & HANDS: Lovely textured "waffle" dial with applied white gold faceted dagger and quarter Breguet numeral markers and Omega logo. Although there are a few light age spots on the dial all original factory printing is crisp and legible — not perfect but Very Good+ unrestored vintage condition on this honeycomb dial, which has aged to a very attractive ivory hue. The original radium luminous dots also show a pleasing patina. Original Alpha-style white metal hour and minute hands also show a bit of age/light corrosion and their original luminous fill has darkened — Very Good condition, as is the sub seconds hand. (Note that the dial is signed SWISS-only beneath the sub seconds chapter instead of SWISS MADE, as is more common. The prevailing theory is that this indicates a North American market Omega.) On the wrist, this is a mega-charming classic 50s Seamaster layout with unmistakable vintage appeal.

MOVEMENT: Beautiful copper colored Omega cal. 344 17-jewel "bumper" partial-rotor automatic movement with shock protection and Swan Neck regulator. The 13 million movement serial number dates to circa 1952-3 according to Omega's tables. As stated above, I had this watch fully overhauled when I acquired it. Worn relatively sparingly since the watch is keeping very good time with strong power reserve and I will guarantee it for 6-months of normal, non-abusive use.

CROWN: Omega-signed notched steel crown shows aging commensurate with the case and so could well be original — Very Good to Excellent condition. The crown pushes in tightly to the case, winds the movement and pulls out to the non-hack time setting position exactly as it should.

CRYSTAL: I had the badly crazed crystal replaced at service with a new genuine Omega modern-era acrylic crystal with logo and silver tension ring. It has only acquired very minor marks since then if any — easily Near Mint condition for this armored hesalite crystal.

BAND: This great Omega comes on a high quality and lightly used oxblood leather strap in Excellent condition with generic steel buckle. This watch takes 18mm straps.

As a matter if policy I make NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch in any way, shape or form.

This classic vintage Omega Seamaster is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer. This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
T.
