Raymond Weil, misunderstood??
Hi all,
Yesterday decided to buy a watch as a gift for a very close friend. She is very elegant and classy so I had to search for a nice timepiece. Few years ago I bought a brand new beautiful RW Parsifal automatic Chronograph. (ETA valjoux Chronograph, AR sapphire crystal, carbon dial, crystal case back, fantastic carbon look strap...) I don't know why but since many years I love this brand. Surprisingly I read many bad opinions about this manufacturer, Basically saying is very expensive for what you get, not in-house movements, presumptuous brand, too young company, very low resale value... Why this hate??? Sincerely I find this brand a great choice with classic and modern designs, ETA and if I'm not wrong in-house movements, solid watches, nice details...cannot say a bad word about them. Freelancer collection is amazing!! Resuming, finally I bought a beautiful RW Parsifal ladies model for a very good price and a very nice design. Are you haters or lovers of RW?? Wouldn't call myself a 'lover' of the brand however when I was a poor student in University I bought my then girlfriend (15 years later, now wife) a RW ladies quartz watch.
To this day it is still her main watch and looks great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I like thei designs and used to have a Raymond Weil in the past as well. The thing is there're very great looking watches at this price range with a better known history and this where they might struggle

No idea, don't hold much opinion of RW... they advertised a lot back in the 1980s (especially "Time by Raymond Weil" slogan) and that probably etched their brandname in my mind... otherwise they might just be another fashion brand
Nothing wrong with their designs, most look pretty classic & inoffensive. But on the other hand, obscure their brandname and I couldn't tell you who sold that There's at least one or 2 RWs in the watch box, no idea how they got there. (as for "RW" initials, I'd be thinking of Robertson Wilson first the soortsgoods people before the watchmaker) |
