Diff. Between GMT & GMT 2?
I was looking at an old Rolex catalog that featured the GMT and GMT 2. Can anyone fill me in on the fundamental difference? They both appear to be the same from appearance.

Thanks, that makes sense, I have seen the hour hand "jump" demo-ed to me on a GMT II at an AD.

The GMT allows you to track two time zones simultaneosly...the first by using the standard hour & minute hand, the second by adjusting the bezel and using the fixed 24 hour hand. The GMT II allows you to track 3 time zones. The first using the standard hour & minute, the second by adjusting the 24 hour hand (The GMT can't do this) and the third by adjusting the bezel and using the 24 hour hand.

The "jump hour" feature was introduced on the 16760 circa 1983 (the first GMT II).
Here's a great history on the transitional years. http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/gmt_transition.htm |
