Is it socially acceptable to take photos of watches?

It’s not that I care; but I’ve always wondered what a non-wis would think seeing someone taking photos of their watch in public places.

I’ve seen people giving weird looks when I’m ‘caught’ taking wrist pics.

I specifically do it on London buses, that way no one wants to sit next to me. Its usually me and some guy yelling at himself who get our own row. So i would say its probably a bit weird.

See... Its basically rush hour, just after 9am

What... you don't have a white gloved chauffeur with a collection like that?

I've been known to just stop randomly on the sidewalk and take a wristshot. I don't think it's any weirder than people who take pictures of their food or selfies on IG.

I admit I'm too embarrassed to take a watch pic in front of anyone except my wife. She knows.

Even my wife thinks I’m odd for taking wrist pics...and I don’t feel comfortable taking photos of my wrist with others around unless I’m in a watch shop.

I would never take a photo of my watch with people looking because I think people would think I'm a nut job. My wife doesn't even get it and she wears a really nice watch but she'd never photograph it - she thinks it's totally bizarre that I photograph mine.

So does mine. I had my DSLR on a tripod a couple weekends ago taking some shots of my Sub and my wife thought I was nuts. Then she thought it might not be a bad idea to have some close up pics for insurance purposes so I took some shots of her Rolex too.

I would never try to take a pic of someone else's watch though and usually don't take pics of mine when other people are around.

I do it quite often in Singapore and get some weird looks. I’m a whack job anyway and I couldn’t care less.

I think it’s contagios though. When Mrs Van D went home last time she sent me this from her seat on the plane.

When I got my daytona C I was taking wrist shots around the house and my wife asked if she could see it. She then put it on her head and said take a picture, I probably look better than what you're doing

There are far stranger subjects for photographs

In this age of selfies, I don't think welfies are that weird. At least we are taking pics of our own watches unlike guys taking pics of other people's cars which is a bit sad.

Oh I don't even like to be taken pics of, so really hate selfies.
About taking pics of my watches, couldn't care less if someone thinks I am nuts, I don't do it in public, as it could make guys understand I have an expensive watch and give them the idea of mugging me, which would bug me...

Better than those chasing around cars with their DSLRs, or pics of their pumpkin spice lattes in their Starbucks cup or girls and their outfit pics.

People have their hobbies. They may find us strange, but I find them stranger :P

YES!
I do it Everywhere and don't even consider what anyone thinks. My watch, my wrist, my camera, my way or you know...

It's hard to resist if something catches my eye. Public place, public snapshot. Keep it stealth, there's like average a dozen ppl snapping pics all around any time in public these days, so why be the odd Luddite out?

Oh wait... u talking about YOUR OWN wrist or some stranger's...?!?

I'd rather take a photo of my watch than of myself.

Not sure what that says about me.

I also have way too many pictures of watches on my phone.
