Icon5 Natos and rubber on Modern Ceramic Rolex?

If any of you can contribute with pictures or thoughts on why or why not to put modern ceramic pieces on different kinds of straps.

I currently own a GMT master BLNR and was thinking about swapping out the bracelet for a nato or rubber strap.

I understand that the space between the case and the spring bar is a bit tight so I'm a little afraid of scratching the case with the nato constant switch. I currently have over 20 of them from when I used them on my speedy but that piece is gone and was thinking about using them on my Rolex.

Do it. It’s your watch after all.

Just use thinner spring bars to allow the strap to pass easier

Did you use any specific brand of spring bars?

I have some older Rolex spring bars that I used on a jubilee bracelet. I believe they measure 1.6 or 1.8mm. Really most off the shelf bars will be thinner than the oem 2.0mm bars.

Here's a couple I've tried on my BLNR:

C&B leather strap.

Bonetto cinturini rubber strap:

The sharp edge of the case does wear the center of the leather strap. However, I've since learned that you can put some tape over the edge and it will prevent this. Haven't tried it though. Truth is, I prefer the SubC Glidelock bracelet on the watch over all the other options.

I just like changing up the look. Don’t have access to bluesy on blue rubber or my GMT2c LN black rubber right now. I like how they look and feel.

Thanks for posting these. Nice to see that you don't need to spend $200+ on a rubber strap for the watch to look great.

Big fan of rubber here but I get along with natos. Two great options, however, nothing can beat the Oyster.

IMHO the changes for me tend to be very short lived and not worth the effort, cost, or risk (scratches during swapping) of playing dress-up with my watches. I'll stay stock on anything new.

But with right tools there are no problems with swapping.. but yeah, stock is still no1 for all rolex models..

I'm pretty much a rolex purist. After much study I think RB is worthy to be on my rolex. I didn't get that same feeling with Everest.

It takes just a few minutes with the Bergeon tongs to do a bracelet/strap swap. I enjoy the occasional changeup with shell cordovan natos, canvas natos and a Bonetto Cinturi rubber nato I grabbed off Amazon over the summer. To mitigate concerns about wear and tear on leather straps, you might like to try curved spring bars, available at Amazon or ToxicNatos. Works well with my BLNR and my LvC

My personal view is that Rolex watches look best on their bracelets as intended. I don't think the modern supercase sports references look good on NATO straps. The older references with the smaller lugs and generally smaller cases tend to look better on a NATO. The an old Explorer or Datejust 36mm looks the best if you ask me.

I only like rubber straps on dive watches.

Took me a long time until I found a NATO with which I am happy for my LVc. But, I'm happy now.

I've tried all sorts . . .

Quality NATOs are good

I haven't found a decent leather strap . . even the expensive Everest with end links wasn't that good .. not sure how the curved end straps look.

Like everyone (99.99%) will say. It looks best on bracelet, especially the BIG case 6 digit refs. I'd say the the 5 digit refs look slightly better & vintage can look great.
