Tracing an owner.

Trying to trace a 1675 GMT with the serial number 191816# please make contact if you think you might own this watch.

Hi Lee,
I believe that SN puts you in the 1953-1957 production year range, but the GMT 1675 isn't introduced until 1959.
...Or, are you masking the last digit, i.e. 191816_, of a circa 1968 GMT?

Knowing Lee's experience and expertise, I'm guessing he left the last no. off

Thanks Andy and yes you are correct as I have the papers for that watch so have withheld the last digit. Be nice to be able to give them to the owner of the watch if it is still around.

Re: last digit ...assumed that was the case.
I know of a few cases wherein long separated paperwork "finds" its rightful timepiece (owner). Rare, but it does happen. It's great that you're making the effort.

Fine gesture Lee. One of the enjoyable elements of this forum is a level of cameraderie that is less common in many other places on the internet that so often degrade in sniping. Try reading the comments sections on HODINKEE, often just terrible, a hangout for angry and disgruntled men it seems. But I'm going OT!

VRF has the "Lost Rolex & Tudor Guarantee Papers" to help out as well, you could add it there...
Cheers!

great gesture - when I bought a 5513 once the previous owner said that the guy who sold it to him lost the papers when moving house - but he passed on my contact details to that guy 'in case',

Lo and behold, a few years later he got in touch and sent me the original warranty papers for my 5513! thanks to nice gestures like this...

Lee, you made my heart skip a beat. Me 1918xxx but 90 or so off. That would have been like the lottery.

Super nice gesture.
