I recently returned from a trip abroad wih a 5 hour time difference, and was confronted with the question which watch to bring. I went with my go to PP Aquanaut as it goes with everything, doesn't set off the metal detectors, and is fairly under the radar.
Please share what you travel with. |

5164 for me...easy to change the time, waterproof, comfortable, and discreet. Can't ask for much more

The 116718 is quite unobtrusive, IMHO
Seriously though, any of the PP pieces pictured ( not on a bracelet) would be excellent for travel |

I stopped caring about your question once I saw your collection. Awesome taste and really well balanced. Nice!

My only dual time / gmts are skyD and BLNR, neither of which are discreet so I normally go with a diver beater. I keep waiting for a Tudor black bay gmt.

I think you made the right choice. The Aquanaut is the best all rounder that I see in your collection
I have nowhere near the kind of collection as you, but I took this on my last trip to Italy and thought it was perfect for the occasion |

Oh yeah! The watch that was designed for/by pilots (Pan Am) who traveled through multiple time zones. Emphasis on quick and easy adjustments.

Damn that's an awesome flyer's lot, I personally would take that ultra rare brown dial 5990.

Thanks. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective those are both WG. I like that the faces are extremely unique from one another but likely redundant to most folks. Long story short not a seller at this time.

Great thread and great collection.
I travel overseas with a Gmt II C but on an Everest rubber strap to fly under the radar. |

There days you can’t be too careful. Especially if your travels take you to some trouble spots. While I detest making my watch choices based on fear, there are some places in which discretion is the better part of valor and a Casio digital watch is called for.

it really depends where i'm going and what i'm doing.
typically, i use a seiko if i'm going somewhere to party or roughing it. work gets a rolex or one of the others. |

Given your username not a surprise that you may be traveling to some universes and places far, far away with sketchy inhabitants.

I fly four international flights per month as an airline pilot. Heading out the door, I usually grab an IWC Mark series wristwatch (XII or XV).

FWIW, my father flew for 30+ years (UAL and NWA), and I don't recall him being particularly enamored of one watch over another. He was, however, always looking for a good, dependable flashlight.

I have a few of the same watches. My 5164 is my watch when I travel abroad or are uncertain about where I am going - nobody has any idea what you are wearing. That said, I had a spring bar pop off on my 5164 and get wedged inside of an airplane seat. Nothing beats a GMT for durability, I just think it looks a little more conspicuous.

Beautiful picture. Beautiful selection.
For about 9+ years my TT 16613LB was my one and only watch and never left my wrist: travel, camping, working in the backyard etc. Somehow now that i have a couple of more watches to choose from, that one remains my go to watch for traveling. Although it might be a bit more flashy, i find i am more comfortable with that on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
