Daytona Question

How much do you think the value declines by removing plastic from BNIB and making it a LNIB on a s/s daytona? After years of waiting I got the call twice in a couple weeks and of course I now have both black and white dial. I know the market has softened quite a bit & I'm not necessarily going to sell one, but before I wear either I'm trying to figure out what it will cost me. I hope it's not like driving a car off the lot. What do you think?

It'll cost you more this year than next year.

BNIB seem to still fetching a slight premium, LNIB for MSRP or less. If you can afford to hang on to both with the intention to sell one BNIB, you would be better off waiting.

I think that they pretty much sell for a given amount on the used market.... It doesn't make any difference at all if it has stickers or not..

No individual can actually sell a BNIB watch..... Everybody knows that it had to be bought from someplace else...

Or, maybe it's just me. If a seller had two, and he wanted more for one just because it had stickers on it..... I'd save myself a few bucks - these aren't Barbie dolls

However, if you know that you are going to sell one...it may sell faster with stickers.

I just picked up a SS white Daytona and AD said he had to remove stickers!
He proceeded to remove all of them while my jaw dropped! I told him I would prefer to remove them myself!

They did it because it is the only thing the AD can do to make the watch less desirable to a potential buyer should the person who bought it from the AD have the intentions on selling it.

When I bought my white face SS daytona, the AD did the same thing. They took all the stickers off. They wanted to make sure I was not going to walk out the store and try and resell as BNIB.

Have to agree with you there Larry whats more important the watch or bits of paper and plastic .

If it is sold without plastics in the next two years I'd say a 1500 dollars loss.

But keep in mind, that assumes that Rolex doesn't increase their prices in the next two years to offset the loss.
