Torn between Tudor Pelagos LHD and Black Bay S&G
I spent a long time at the AD today. I walked in thinking I would buy a North Flag and left trying to decide between these two watches - neither of which was on my radar. I mean two-tone, yuck, right?
The reason I like the LHD for the Pelagos is the cream hands and markers look great with the titanium. It brings it all together for me. This will be my first luxury watch and feels like an insane amount of money to spend but I’m doing it. I’m not a bling guy but I’m strangely drawn to the S&G. I'm not ashamed to admit that I like the idea of showing off a bit on the most expensive non-car/house purchase I’ve ever made. However, I worry that I’ll tire of it. The Pelagos is more typically my style and a safer choice. I love the depth of the dial and it’s less fussy appearance. I don’t know what I hope to accomplish by posting here. I’m looking for something to sway me. |

Both are great choices. I would go for the S&G on leather (but I am biased, as that is what I did :)). If I would need to choose between this Pelagos and S&G on bracelet I would most likely go Pelagos. I do not care much for the BB bracelet. I know this does not help, but again: no wrong choice possible!

Both are nice watches. I think you answered your own question though. Sounds like the Pelagos is singing to you. No wrong or right choice here,

Pelagos for me. Has technical capabilities beyond a SubC. The S&G is nice looking, but I don't want to wear a gold-plated watch.

I tried both on this summer and the Pelagos is an impressive bit of kit but the lightness took my by surprise and that feeling of lightness stuck with me, I prefer a watch to be slightly heavier.
The Black Bay was the business though! :) |

They are both great watches. From your post, I think you prefer the pelagos and therefore that’s what I think you should choose.

Both are great, as this is your first, take your time to make your mind up and get the one you like the most. Definitely try them both on again at the AD before making a final decision.

Sounds like you might like the s&g more, but want to like the lhd more. If that's the case I'd go s&g.
If really on the fence, maybe pass for now, and see if one starts coming into your head more (or maybe you'll notice another watch you like better than both.) They wear very differently, the weight on the s&g on bracelet is significant, whereas the ti is very light. You might consider which way you are looking to go for wrist feel. I'd go (and did go!) with the s&g -- I also thought TT watches were uncool, didn't even know the s&g was a thing, and it came out of left field and stole my heart at the AD. No regrets, happen to be wearing it right now. |

Thanks for the replies. I chose the Pelagos LHD! It was a combination of liking the Pelagos and concern that the novelty of S&G would wear off and leave me with a watch I wasn't excited about. Paying the AD premium, I want to be confident this one is a keeper.
I love it, of course! It being titanium is the biggest factor that pushed me towards the Pelagos. The other silly thing I collect are fidget spinners (don't laugh) and it has given me a strong affinity for well machined titanium. I like the soft luster and warmer color compared to steel. Tudor did a great job of complementing the titanium with the cream color on the hands and markers. It's not something I appreciated in pictures. |

Great choice. I think the Pelagos, in either form, is the coolest dive watch out there.

Titanium sounds fuuun. Maybe there will be a Pelagos in my future. But that S&G?!

S&G is very classy. I think on a strap it can work with any situation.
Pelagos is pure sport. I've been thinking of picking up the S&G lately.

You couldn't go wrong either way. I don't know if I would get tired of that left hand crown though????

I like bracelets and is mostly how I expect to wear it. Something I considered was buying the S&G on a strap and then getting the regular BB steel bracelet. I assume that's possible though I didn't confirm.

Good idea. I'm not sure if you can just order the bracelet by itself but they do come around for sale now and then.

I bought a s&g on leather from one AD, and bracelet for it from another AD later (I like options! ), so you can order by itself. I didn't negotiate hard, got the s&g bracelet for $1400.

I like Black Bay better. Not sure if I like the square markers and the matte color. Looks a little bit like a plastic watch.
