White gold "Pepsi" GMT vs. Yellow Gold GMT
What does everyone here think about the 116719 vs the 116718 and which one would you prefer to own as something you wear daily?
Is the yellow gold too much? Is the white gold too much like SS? Is the white gold rarer then the yellow gold? Do you think one will hold its value better? Thanks for your thoughts! |

I would go with the yellow gold GMT. I am not a fan of the weak pastel colors on the white gold GMT.

Having both, BLRO wins the race for me. Bought the 116718 10 years ago and the 116719 last year.

I think the "weak" colors work SO MUCH BETTER on the white gold. The slight yellow hue makes the colors look so much more appealing to me. The stark whiteness of the steel model really does the bezel no favors. White gold would be my choice assuming price wasn't an issue.

It all comes down to personal preference. Same watch with different colors. Yellow gold is obviously more "look at me" in a room with multiple lighting sources hitting it. Flash vs stealth. Pick your poison.

But, I will say...in a travel situation, I would (and have) gone with the BLRO. Simply b/c when I'm in unfamiliar surroundings, I would prefer to be as low key as possible. The 718 is kinda like your headlights on high beam. |

I'm a white gold BLRO GMT fan after trying both on. As mentioned WG is more stealthy and yet has a subtle gold sheen for personal enjoyment. The yellow gold can photograph well, but looks too brassy first hand IMHO. But to each their own. Cheers!

Like Larry, I have both and couldn’t tell you which is “better” as I wear both equally a lot. I mean a LOT.

Love both! The white gold is more low key.

I don’t think there’s a ‘wrong’ choice. This is what I went with.

WG Pepsi is a total sleeper. Few will notice what you really have while YG is blatantly obvious. Like comparing a C4 with a Twin turbo...only those who know really know.

I always thought the YG with green dial is hot and sexy, but I will go for BLRO as it is more versatile and strike a fine balance between sporty bezel pop and understated class. |

I'm a white gold person, being a jeans and tee wearer, I prefer the stealthy, steelish look. Pragmatically, yellow and rose golds don't suit my skin tone particularly well.

I like knowing what I have, really don't care if anyone else does. Pepsi all day for me.
I also think the Pepsi will retain value better over time. |

White gold will appear like the SS to most people.

I'm not sure what "too much" even means. Beyond basic situational awareness and security concerns, I don't care what anyone else thinks of my watches (or anything else I own or do) and wear WG, YG, and RG as my mood dictates.
Between the two pieces mentioned by the OP, I much prefer (and own) the 116719 BLRO. Given that I don't care for the lack of contrast and visual interest that often occurs when bezel and dial are the same color, added to my appreciation of the BLRO's long-awaited (by me, anyway) return to the 6542's original bezel hues, my choice was an obvious one. Buy the one you like best and don't worry about others' opinions or future value. Caring about either of those is nearly always a losing proposition. |
