Milgauss and Marriage
Hi Everyone,
For several years, I am wanting to buy a Rolex Milgauss with blue dial. However, my wife is very against this idea. She thinks that Rolex is a waste of money. I make 100% of income. I have enough saving to buy the watch in cash (actually my saving is 20 times watch price). I have already explained this argument to my wife. I am considering options 1,,, Leave my wife and purchase Rolex 2,,, Buy Rolex but keep hidden from my wife 3,,, Stay with my wife and give up on my Rolex dream What do you think? |

Go see a good lawyer, hide your money, boot her controlling a** to the curb.
Your problems are bigger than the Rolex.

Start hiding the money and leave
Or just buy it , what can she do? Nothing, she will be mad but who cares it’s already done Never ask, just do it and deal with them being mad for a month |

Yes I will probably buy it against her opinion. She does not see the value of luxury watches. But, not everybody will get it |

I'm getting a sense of trolling but not quite sure.

Explain that all you're doing is parking your money. If you buy a nice used one they can be had for a decent price since Milgauss is not a strong seller. In a few years you can sell it for a small loss in the worst case scenario or even cash if not in a hurry. Ask her if she could do the same thing with a car she drives for example.
I would advise against hiding it, leaving your wife as it is expensive, or giving up the dream as you put it.

Perhaps there is more to your wife's objection. Maybe she wants you to spend the money on joint items, maybe children or future children, a house or some type of real estate in the future. You are not giving us all the detail, and if personal you don't have to, but what specific objection(s) does your wife have.
IMO its not worth breaking up a marriage over a material object. If you can't overcome her objections then move on, its just a watch. And then again as one poster said, the OP may just be a troll and pulling our leg. |

I would buy it and tell her to mind her own business as they are your savings or bring to her attention that the make up and creams that women buy are waste of money and not something you keep for life |

Buy it, she will be annoyed for a bit but something tells me that she is sour most of the time anyway. I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

Good chance to have a discussion with her. You ask, she told you, so don't get upset that you did not like the answer. Revisit the discussion, not to hear from her again but to tell her that after consideration you really want the watch and have decided to purchase it. If she gets an attitude or get upset remind her that you are in a partnership and you are not going to agree about everything. You have the money and it does not create a hardship for your family. End of discussion. Go buy the watch and move on. I look forward to seeing an incoming thread.

Buy the watch, tell her you won it in a raffle, and wear it proudly.
I had the exact same experience with my Milgouss. While chatting with the missus one day, I mentioned how I could get one at an extraordinary discount. She chuckled and said I should buy it then. It arrived two days later, having her full (if not genuine) blessing. I'm still happily married and wear my Milgauss more than any other. |

My buddy pulled out his original receipt the other day from 2007 when he bought his white dial Milgauss after he was made an offer from a guy for it. He was offered more than what he paid for it. The offer was from a dealer so he would have bid low as to resell for profit. A face to face would net him even more.

On a serious note, your wife will always be more important than any watch (or should be) however that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get what you want (not need) and have earned by your hard work especially that buying it won’t keave you guys hungry.
Soooooooo I would suggest getting her to like it. Women say “no” to things they don’t typically understand. Show her articles about how Rolex retains its value, show her the price chart of Rolex over time, get her interested by asking her opinion (pick the right time to do so) ask her which color is better, what type of band/bracelet,...... even if you’re dead sure which one you want. Still go through that exercise with her Take her to see it on your wrist at your AD...... finally get her a nice gift Best of luck to you Wait, I turned from a neurologist to a marriage councilor here |

Put up a photo of the wife.
Someone desperate soul out there may have a Milgauss they want rid of and exchange you for the "good woman". That way you're rid of the wife, you get a Milgauss and the money is still in the bank. Everyone's a winner. Just kiddin |

I would choose the wife over a Milgauss. Now if you were talking a DD, I might have a different answer!
