My Rolex plans for 2018

Its been 19 years since my last Rolex watch, a Jubilee DJ. After reading all the valuable information on TRF I now want to create a collection. None of these watches will be flipped, they will be worn and will be earmaked for the male heirs in our family. My wife will Address the female heirs.
The watches I intend to obtain are:
GMT BLNR
LV Sub
Daytona ceramic (white or black)
Sea Dweller or deep Sea Blue
All watches will be acquired via an AD at MSRP.
I have a strategy in place based on everything I have read on the TRF. And I have set a time frame of six months to complete the above.
Will keep you informed of my progress or lack thereof. Pictures will be included when the watches are acquired.
Not part of the above plan but will be in the Netherlands, Germany and England in December and will check out the ADs in those countries. I do not expect to acquire any of the above watches during this trip but you never know.

Good plan. Do you intend to buy only from authorized dealers? If so, the DaytonaC may be a challenge.

Wow, that's pretty ambitious to buy four Rolexes in six months after wearing one for 19 years. FWIW, I also wore a DJ with Jubilee for a long time before discovering TRF and going off the deep end.

I would much prefer to get and enjoy a new watch for a while before buying another. When I got my Daytona, I was over the moon for, well, I still am. Unless there is some reason to race through the purchase process, I would step back and enjoy the ride you are lucky to be able to embark on.

I also blame you all TRF'rs for my subsequent 5 luxury watches.

I intended to be a one-watch guy. Now I have 6 have a hard time deciding every morning. Except for Speedy Tuesday.

$30,000 you people cost me!

With all sincerity, thank you!

That’s an ambitious plan, but sounds like fun! Hopefully you’ll drag it out and appreciate each of the incomings as they roll in. I suspect you’ll have difficulty with a few (the Daytona in particular) but the hunt is half the fun. Good luck!

Well, you've chosen all the TRF favs, for sure! The forum hype/group think has clearly influenced your list. I'm curious, have you tried on all of those references?

I’m a big Rolex fan, but are you sure you don’t want to explore other brands as well?

Good advice from everyone. Difficult to try these on since they are not readily available. Yes intend on purchasing from AD only. Tried on a BLNR and liked it but was already spoken for.

Why do you want to purchase everything within 6 months? It seems like it will be difficult to do with the models you’ve picked out if you’re going to be purchasing at an AD.

Time frame of 6 months I thought was reasonable. I do agree the Daytona will be the most difficult, but I do like a challenge.

If you buy all from the same AD they will move you up on their list for the Daytona. Could well be done in six months.

That Daytona may require PM purchasing power. PPP

Maybe strange question, but can't you get a discount on any/all of these timepieces? I have bought 3 Rolexes over the years and have never done worse than 15-20% from AD's. Granted, the last watch I purchased was a GMT Master IIc from an AD with a significant discount in 2010.

15-20% as said is unrealistic, anything that is popular 10% is about all one can expect, if that !

No discount will be available on those watches but credit to giving it a try. I think I could have got them apart from the Daytona in 6 months. If you ask an AD that you will buy them all in one go then it may work out for you.

As someone else said, buy what you like though, not what is popular.

You might want to try getting them from the same AD as they are more willing to get for you even the more difficult to obtain pieces if you've developed a 'relationship' with them. Fact that you're getting 4 pieces might spur them to source the pieces for you. Wish you good luck and much fun in your quest I was in London looking for the BLNR but ended up getting the LN as it was available and reasonably priced after claiming back vat. And of course poisoned by the dealer saying just get it as a collection. Having said that I'm very happy with the purchase. And got the BLNR a month later from a dealer in Milan.

Get an AP RO and throw a PM piece in there - maybe a DD40? :)
