Advice please, Tudor BB36,OP or Explorer39?

Hello, I just lost my diver watch on a party and I need a new one to feel whole again.
I wish to switch style to something more dressy but still young.
My options:
- Buy Tudor Black Bay 36 now;
- Save a few months and afford a Oyster Perpetual
- Save 6+ months to buy an Explorer 39mm.

Suggestions?

I’d save for the Explorer 214270 mk. 2 / 2016 version

I’ll second this and add that I’d get the 3-6-9 dial as well.
Personally, 39mm is too much dial for my wrist, but if I could handle it, it would be a more difficult choice. There is the “legacy” factor with the explorer, which isn’t really all that important IMO, but I do like Mercedes hands. What I like about the OP 3-6-9 is the beautiful domed bezel and colored dial. I think it gives the watch more character. You’d also get lumed numerals if that matters to you.

First off depends on your wrist size. I loved the BB36, but it was way too small for my wrist. I ended up going with a 39mm Explorer because of its versatility (black, classic look) and the fact that I didn't love the OP color combos as a primary watch.

I mean, the BB36 looked great on my wrist.. a bit smaller compared to 40mm watches, but fitted well due to longer lug/Solid End Link...

With the Explorer I might be worried scratching or so.... Explorer is almost 2.5x the price of the BB36 ... decisions...

Btw, company Christmas party are wild... too bad

The BB36 would be a really nice and much less expensive alternative to the Exp. 39. I tried on the BB41 for fun and was surprised how big it felt on my 7.5” wrist. Exp. 39 is perfect for me and may be for you but is definitely a lot more $$.

I do. I also read stories that Hillary was wearing a non-Rolex brand watch while reaching the Everest.

I never said that OP is not a legacy watch. I just recommended Explorer. We seek different watches through our lives, most of us have more than one and end up flipping or expanding our collections...

My mistake. By saying “Explorer, you want a legacy Rolex.” I thought you implied the OP wasn’t.

I struggled with the decision of the 39mm explorer and the 39mm OP. I wanted it to be casual enough and dressy enough for everyday wear at work. I picked the blue dial 39mm OP and I'm really enjoying it. It feels great on my wrist. I have a 7.25" wrist and it fits and feels great! I'm sure the 39mm explorer would be great too depending on your needs. I am quite certain that I will pick up the 39mm explorer at some point in the future.

I just love the 39mm options for semi dressy/sporty. To me, it felt perfect for my wrist in between the 36mm and 41mm options.

The Explorer is such a superb all-arounder. I'd go with that, unless you want color? I'd for sure skip the 36 BB.

The BB36 has a better depth rating than the two Rolex (150m vs 100m), if that matters to you. (I mention this as you're replacing a dive watch.)

If you already have a black watch skip the explorer and get an OP. It's a great watch for the money

If any of these matter to you: in house Rolex movement, probably a bit better finishing, more historical significance.

Don't know... I don't feel paying 2-3k for the movement. With this virtual saving I can use BB36 for a few years before upgrading to the explorer. Thoughts (I'm almost 30)?
