126600(SD43) vs 116610LV(Hulk) - which one to get?
Hi guys,
I'm on my way to assemble air, land, and sea combo. Here's what I have now: 1) Datejust 41 2) 116610LV(Hulk) On my way to collect: Explorer II - air (for the gmt functionality) Daytona - land For the sea choice, I am contemplating whether to flip my hulk for 126600(SD 43) or stay the way it is and work towards my goal? It's a really hard choice because both have its strengths/shortcomings. What do you think, guys? |

116610lv seems to be shaping up to be one of those - “I had one and then sold it and I regret doing so” pieces.
Could be wrong. At the end of the day, buy what you like. But if you’re on the fence and lack of future availability might factor into your decision, then maybe wait 4 months until after Basel and see. The 122660 is very easy to get. 116610lv not as much. |

I have the SD43 and the Hulk - like them both a lot, but prefer the size of the SD43

Strong rumours continue to persist in the Hong Kong Watch Fever Facebook regarding the scarcity of Ref 116610LV in the future. According to the HK watch snob, if Rolex decides to discontinue the Green Gold in 2018 , then the asking price of a BNIB Hulk will skyrocket to approx HK dollar $ 126600. Ironic isn't it ?
p/s : My local Malaysian grey dealer has 3 Hulks in his electronic safe vault and he isn't interested in selling them anytime soon.... |

I'd keep the LV and still add the 126600.

I'd keep the lvc but if you got larger wrists certainly give the sd43 a try/look. I just think the awesome dial and more classic size of the sub would be the keeper. Collection is coming along great.

Black DaytonaC
White Explorer II Green Sub Your DJ41.... Great mix! So, I wouldn't flip the LVc, even if the SD50 is a great watch.... Good luck with the choice! |

I'd keep the LVc, esp if you paid retail or less.

I have the SD43 and love it. That said keep the LV and save for the SD. LV is a special piece.

SD43 is a great piece but I fell out of love with it after 2 months. I find Subs more comfortable overall. Just sold my SD43 today and have a Hulk coming to replace it this week.

Many on here (as we see) either love the LV or are looking at the financial angle of value appreciation if the LV is discontinued. Personally I think there's as much chance of the LV being discontinued in 2018 as there is the red text on the SD being changed for white in 2018. The LV doesnt do it for me (love the dial, dislike the bezel - but neither really suit me) so its an easy one. Personally speaking, the SD is the perfect (if not ultimate) Rolex diver. It had me on looks alone. The fact we both originated in 1967 is the icing on the cake. So, if your thought process is driven by residuals, you've got to consider what happens if the the LV is not discontinued anytime soon. Values will surely stabalise and maybe fall a little. Or what happens if the SD reverts to white text - values for "single reds" will certainly rise. Its very easy to be influenced by thoughts of "collectability" and "future values" in decisions like these. But if its purely on the asthetics of each, then the only thng to do is try the 126600 and see how you feel about it. Eiter way, its not a bad decision to have to make, even if it is a hard one as you really cant go wrong with either

I love the SD but I don't see why you would focus on that trade. Finish out your dream set first then trade out pieces.

Echo most people here...love the SD but wouldn't flip the LVc for it. Looking like the Hulk is going to be/already is a classic.

I have owned three Hulk's and have enjoyed them when I owned them but have always flipped out. For me the Hulk is too expensive for what it is, a green dial and bezel, and in a 10-15 watch collection I do not get enough wear out of it for my cost. The SD43 is the ultimate Rolex Diver for me. I have owned one for since the summer and it does not appear that the honeymoon phases is going to end anytime soon. The case size, bracelet size, dial, red text and the movement all make it a winner for me. I even enjoy the cyclops. There has always been a lot of hype around the Hulk and with the more restricted distribution right now , price speculation. It falls back to what I follow in my collecting, " buy what you like, wear what you own"

Whatever you do, hang on to your LV-C. I think what I would do is focus on rounding out the rest of your collection and then circle back and add the SD.
By that time it may even be a little more accessible. Maybe. |
