Coffee drinkers rejoice!

"People who drink three to four cups of coffee a day are more likely to see health benefits than problems, experiencing lower risks of premature death and heart disease than those who abstain, scientists have said.

The research, which collated evidence from more than 200 previous studies, also found coffee consumption was linked to lower risks of diabetes, liver disease, dementia and some cancers."

I can't remember how many times the consensus has changed throughout my lifetime as to whether or not coffee is a deadly substance.

I would hope this closes the book on the issue, although I doubt that any study has ever stopped anyone from drinking coffee.

I had to give up drinking coffee because it has way too much caffeine for my system.

I can still enjoy an iced tea or caffeinated soda from time to time, but I can't over do it.

What about De-Caff?

When I was told to give up caffeine and therefore coffee, I went out and bought some de-caf and made a few cups, but after a week or so, I found I had no desire to drink coffee at all.

It's not because I disliked the de-caf, because I had always drank it on occasion without any issues.

The only explanation is that all those years that I drank coffee, believing that it was the coffee I loved, it was actually the caffeine that I was addicted to.

And I was no casual coffee drinker. I drank it strong and black for decades, ten or so cups per day.

It was a real eye-opener.

Yesterday coffee was bad.
Today coffee is good.
Tomorrow? I don’t know and I don’t care. I will continue to drink coffee.
If it’s good for me — great.
If it’s bad for me, at least I’ll be happy til the day I die.

And that, my friend, is the secret to life!

This latest study from the British Medical Journal seems to be the most definitive, so I say drink up and be guilt free.

Same with so many substances, isn't it. Sugar, Salt, Fat, Coffee, Alcohol, etc.
I have always operated on the old saying "Everything in moderation".
Often your body tells you stuff that people choose to ignore.
If I have more than two shots of coffee per day I feel unpleasantly 'hyped' and can guarantee problems sleeping that night.

I drink about 2 cups daily.
Maybe a bit more on the weekend.

I love it to bits whether it was black, or with milk. I never drink it with sugar

I start my morning with a cup of coffee and throughout the day I drink about 10 espressos.

So far so good.

Yep double espresso as soon as I wake plus 2-3 more during the day

Life’s too short for bad coffee

Me too and I make a thing out of trying where ever I am.

So far the best I've had was at Hilton in London for a GTG a few years back.

I do three drops of tabasco as well, I use the regular Finlandia vodka but I'm sure you use a special one.

I make myself a latte every morning. Roast and grind my own beans. I'll have a cup of coffee when I get to work and that's it for the day. If I drink caffeine at night, I'm screwed. Can't sleep on the stuff.

I drink high strength filter coffee every day, and have done for years,

I believe its good for me, aswell as tasting great,

I never could understand the point of de-caf, its like going in a pub and buying a coke.

these health stories are a fixation in the uk aswell, we once had successive governments wage a 20 year campaign, telling us that eggs were the devil if you had too many,
I actually listened at the time (being young and gullible) and restricted my egg intake,
fast forward to a couple of years ago and its now eat as many as you like,

My take on food and health is that, all decent fresh food is good for you whatever it is, just keep your weight down, don't smoke, and get plenty of exercise, that's all you need to do, and drink plenty of beer, preferably guinness .
