What makes your AD special (or alternatively, why don’t you like them)?

For me, besides the staff, I enjoy going there because drinks are always flowing and it is a real experience that is actually fun.

I only like them when they have ample SS stock.

My AD is a great guy, it’s a small town and you always feel welcome. The owner and his family are just genuine people.

My Rolex AD offers fair pricing, great service; and he gives a lot back to the community as well.. Not crazy about giving anyone my money but AD's like his are worth it.

I don't want to sound like a broken record but I like my AD.

The business has been around for about 100 years. It is a true small-town shop. They've known my family and my extended family (both maternal and paternal sides) for three generations. When I go in, we spend a few minutes catching up on what various members are doing. They know me and my wife and don't try to oversell us on things they know we won't be buying due to design or cost.

Their prices are fair and I've been treated very well by them. On less-popular Rolex models, they call regulars when the shipment comes in and can offer discounts. On popular items, they'll call their regulars before setting it out in the case. Sure, it is a business but they are local people and I like supporting them.

Nice people.

Maybe US dealers have a friendlier attitude or have more time for their customers, but of the six or seven UK Rolex AD's I have had personal contact with, only two have provided service such that I would gladly patronise them in the future. My single experience with a Patek AD was excellent. Maybe I was lucky?

I think it depends on the business, not the brand. I travel an hour to my AD in my home town. I have another AD right here in the city in which I live that, while they are friendly enough, make it clear that this is a business and they are not really going to be my friend. It is very professional and, well, cold.

Both my ADs are Rolex dealers.

My AD refuses to play favorites ..nobody’s a vip ...nobody gets different treatment than anybody else...customers r like family, silly sticker removal, engraving, sizing rules don’t exist and if you want a watch you’re the first person to handle your watch and unpack it fromits coffin or if you simply want everything peeled and sized on site they have proper tools to acomidate that...instead of telling you this is this rule this is that rule we have to go by what rolex tells us blah blah blah they let the customer dictate. Love my ad him and his family are top notch...

I have a bad habit of befriending people I do business with. Happened at the Rolex dealer. Now there are a couple salespeople that have left to go to other places and now I am looking at new brands I have never looked at before because of my friends.

My local AD is a friend and I bought my first Rolex from him in 1984. I appreciate being able to buy the first new issues as soon as he gets them and a significant discount... and no tax. However, I only have my Rolex watches serviced at the RSC in NY or Dallas, never at the dealer even though my AD has a pretty good watchmaker.

My local AD has neither drinks nor stock nor the same manager for more than 6 months. Good times.
