You want a SECOND watch?!?!

2018 is lining up to be pretty exciting for me. I won't go into big detail other than I have been waiting for this since last Krismas. To celebrate I want to get myself a new watch. I currently own a white 116520 Daytona that I absolutely adore. I've worn it every day for the last three years and I almost hate to consider a second watch; but this will be a life altering occasion and I want to celebrate myself juust a little.

I am going to set a price range of about $10-25K. This simply means I don't need to max out my budget to enjoy myself. Since the last giveaway I've been looking at the 116610LV(hulk), I am also really interested in trying on the new SS SkyDwellers(white/black/blue all great) and the SD43. A personal goal watch of mine would actually include the YG Daytona with green face a la Connor McGregor(116508); but I wouldn't ditch mine, nor own two Daytonas from the get go.

I would love to hear about some other references you guys own and enjoy, Rolex or not. I am also okay with vintage references, as I am a sucker for a good story! Thanks for all the input and the great forum.

The Blue SkyDweller seems to be the hottest watch out there and seems non-existent, at least you can find a Daytona,Hulk,BLNR. Ive heard 21K plus from my AD, Crazy! Not to suggest trying for that, thats bordering WG money, just saying because you mentioned the model

I'm kind of new to watches and Rolex, but I like this one! I hadn't really even noticed it yet. Do you mean Non-existent at retail price from a AD? Seems available in other channels.

DEFINITELY love that DD... but it's out of range at the moment from what I can gather. And I have recently started reading/hearing about AP reliability...is this really an issue? They are really pretty and I think I would love one.

You seem to be looking for the rare birds (LVc, S/S SkyDwellers, & SD43). If you plan on buying from an AD, I would suggest visiting several ADs and seeing how long the lines/lists are for these watches. All great watches, the wait time may become the deciding factor.

Happy hunting.

I know some of those are really grasping at straws especially now, and in preparation I'm already on waitlists for ANYTHING Basel '17.. that's why I am open to vintage and other brands as well.

You can get a RG DD from a trusted seller for $28k brand new, $26k preowned on the forum.. My AP has been flawless, but I've only had it less than a month. Check out a white dial or blue dial 15400 in person and you'll want to buy it on the spot.

No, not really an issue. I have a RO since March and have had no problems so far. It’s used as my daily and worn at least 5 days a week.

All 3 of your choices are great, but to actually find an AD that have them could be the tricky part.

If you were to give me any amount of money to buy a single watch, at the moment, these would be my options:

if vintage Rolex, black 1600:

if new Rolex, silver OP 36:

if Tudor, black 76200:

Any watch brand...maybe a 5165:

That 1600 is beautiful (excellent condition based on the pic) and the Nautilus is great too (I think thats 5167).

It’s the 5165, which is the slightly smaller version that Paul and Ringo wear.

Since you have a Daytona. I think a Skydweller, LVC or SD43 would all be excellent choices. It just depends what speaks to you.. Maybe even a GMT BLNR or BLRO

For $25K you are in the PM range, especially from a trusted seller. BLRO is a great choice. As is the RG YM. I've had the SD43 since July and love it. So not maxing out your budget that's the way I'd go. Surprising, I know.

Panerai, Breitling, Bell & Ross, and of course Rolex are in my collection. They all have their own style and personality so it’s really what your next watch needs to fit into your lifestyle. Sometimes spending more money on a watch is just spending more money. I would figure out what your style and what you want another watch to do before worrying about a price point.

If I were you I would buy the white gold Sub with the blue dial. I think you can buy it from a trusted seller within your budget.

That is the watch I will buy when I can no longer read the dial on my platinum Daytona (the wife wants it when I give it up).

Good luck and congrats on your good fortune.

I would go with the SS Sky Dweller with the understanding that the price will most likely stabilize in 2018 when you are looking to add.

Then you would have two very different pieces that would cover all of your possible needs.

Luckily, you've got quite a de price range, so you should be able to buy whatever you want, provided you can find it.

You have a fantastic budget. This fool would consider...

BLRO
15202ST
5164/A - stretch
26400IO
Lange 1815 auf/ab
DD40- it’s doable don’t be fooled by msrp

Sounds like you love your SS Daytona. Why not continue to enjoy it as your daily watch and add something a little flashier to the mix. I say go yellow gold 100%. Its a special occassion, and you have the budget. There are plenty of YG options in that budget if you go through a trusted dealer.

My favorites to dream about are DD and full gold Sub.
