New DJ II From AD - Opinion ??

Hi all, I’m new here. I haven’t had a Rolex in 5+ years and don’t have any collection currently. I have been itching to get back in and prefer the DJ 2 over the new 41. Sadly so it seems SS models are in crazy demand and with this model being discontinued for some time there isn’t a whole lot to come by. I have always purchased my watches from a local “trusted seller” but never an AD. I want to keep these watches for the long haul and think the AD route may be beneficial so I am asking what you guys think regarding a discount knowing the above. DJ 2 Fluted SS black stick dial msrp $9100 - 13% discount selling $7900 shipped to my office. In the past I have only been a 20%+ strike price guy but with the current situation I know there’s better out there but I haven’t had any luck finding it from an AD. Heck even the 2nd market is close in price.

What do you guys think and can anyone help with a better deal from an AD?

P.S. I was offered 17% off on the rhodium diamond but I didn’t want the diamond dial.

Thank you in advance.

Got it for 7750 15% I probably could have done better but I’m happy and I’m back in the family & have a close AD.

Everyone has saw it before but if I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

If you’re only willing to buy from AD’s I suspect it will be a more difficult journey since it’s a discontinued model.
I have, and have bought, a pretty good amount of watches (including a djii) and have never bought from an AD... all about what you prefer IMO. No wrong or right.

DavidSW currently has a new one in stock. This is a good price reference. There is also no disadvantage buying a new one like this as it has the same factory warranty. New ones in choice combos are disappearing.

This could be my one and only Rolex if it had to be. I love it.

Yes I love it! Happy to see as I have discovered only paying roughly $200 more from an AD.

To the post before this one I never valued an AD but for some reason I feel like I wanted to especially since there wasn’t a huge price diff mkt to mkt.

Your price from the AD is reasonable. Beautiful DJ II as well.

With the current state of the market I am happy with my purchase price and having an AD close by. I love the watch, now if I can only figure out how to post a picture!

Now two years ago when I was originally going to get this same watch I had 25% off BUT timing is everything. I saw a thread about this to the effect of “the deals you let get away” lol. Regardless I am happy to be back!

When I go to post it won’t auto resize and I would rather not host elsewhere? Any suggestions on how to resize?

Resize in Paint if you're on a PC.

I'm unsure why you think buying from an AD vs a 'trusted seller' is better for the long haul?

Never a doubt in my mind the watch is as new as possible. I’m not naive enough to think it couldn’t have been dropped, magnatized, or sat in a case for 12 months and tried on by 300 people. One thing I do know is I can see it before I hand over my $$ and I know for a fact it’s first “owner” is me.

Same as buying an autographed jersey. I will always wonder if it’s 100% BUT if I watch the athlete sign it I know everytime I look at it who signed it.

I’m on a cell FYI.

It was hard for me to keep my mouth shut about the differences between the two watches. I almost got needlessly involved. It's my take that the IIs are now a watch to unload for the ADs since the new watch has more conservative styling and better mechanics. The point is that there is pressure to drop the price and give discounts.

It was extremely hard to find a decent discount. All the difference you mentioned I personally put value on. I like the bigger dimensions and feeling ok the wrist. I like the proven reliability of the 3136 but have no doubt in the new movement. I just felt that the DJII was much more desirable. I feel I got lucky in my region to get the discount I got. Many trusted and greys were higher some by hundreds and a few by a thousand plus. Davidsw was 200 cheaper and I figured for such a small difference why not got AD. I’m very happy with h the watch and the experience.
