What to do with $10,500

This sum of cash, whilst not insignificant, cuts out all the PM pieces. Include old or new, fat and slim.

At the moment I am umming and ahhhhing (a lot of ahhhiiin) between 16710 pepsi or coke ($10,500 in good nick), GMT2 LN, GMT BLNR, Hulk and the IWC Pilot Mark XVIII.

Let me know. For wearing and owning forever, not for reselling later. You'll only make money on watches through luck, or by being Paul Newman.

PS I already own a Submariner 16610.

BLNR. Amazing what 10,500 buys and does not buy. Either way lots of great watches can be had for that sum. Good luck!

How come the 16700 over the 16710? Price?

I would love a GMT of any kind.

In my opinion ,Because the 16700 is the last of the GMT master references & often overlooked in favour of the more popular 16710 & are usually slightly below the 16710 selling price . The main difference between the GMT-Master and the GMT-Master II was the automatic mechanical movement within. Powering the GMT Master ref. 16700 was the Caliber 3175 where the two hour hands were not independent but has the advantage of having hacking function & being quickset . The GMT-Master ref. 16700 is often an overlooked vintage Rolex reference—especially since at the time, it was competing with its fancier sibling. Yet, since it is the very last GMT Master model, it represents a significant piece of the Rolex history and an interesting model to have within any Rolex collection. But any GMT is worth having, it just depends on which reference you prefer ,old or new you cant go wrong

This looks nice if you are set on a GMT. Serious COMPLETE set with a recent service. You could switch up bracelets.

The Hulk you would have to get soon with $10,500 as they seem to be rising.

Vintage GMT (because I want one so much) or BLNR (cause I have one)...

I know you said PM is out but you may be able to get a vintage DD if you're into that style of watch.

Any 6-digit modern GMTs; but BLNR preferred.

This. Would help to know what else you own or maybe what style of watch your partial to.
All things not considered, current suggestion is the LV.

Or, since you are open to non-rolex. Highly recommend the JLC Tribute to Deep sea alarm.

LVc for every day durability and long time ownership. It does everything and does it with unique style.

I could not agree more. In my opinion it is the most unique looking SS Rolex model currently available.

I'd go with something a little more colorful. The 16710, BLNR, or Hulk would all be good additions to your 16610. Out of those 3, it would depend what I'm wearing them for. a BLNR would be the best for an office setting, the Hulk and 16710s are a little more casual.

I agree with this. My SubC Date (LN) is worn at the beach, working around the house, whenever (and btw slightly easier to set when out of power), whereas my BLNR, mainly due to PCLs, is reserved for lighter duty . Same w my 16710.

Any way you cut it, don’t think you can go wrong w your Rolex choices. Regarding the IWC, I’ve tried it on several times and it just doesn’t compare to the other watches on your list.

Hulk seems destined to keep crawling up. And it's a stunner on the wrist.

Throw the IWC Mark "whatever" it is out of this as they change that reference every year so it's not really a "keeper". Nice watch, but something you buy down the road really inexpensively when people forget it even existed.

They aren't making PEPSI GMT anymore so the cost of entry will continue to rise, so if you want one, get one now.

The Hulk is on the upswing, but the reasons for this are not as clear as the Pepsi GMT....there could be a flood of them on the market after Jan...or they might be "retired" we don't know for sure. It's a gamble.

The other GMT are pretty common (even BLNR) so not that "urgent" to buy now...

Aside from the IWC comment above (don't really have much of an opinion on it), I agree with everything else.

If you want or will ever want a SS pepsi GMT, get it now.

between a BLNR or LVC, I prefer the LVC, but it's a real toss up.

I think I would go 16710 to fit in with your sub and also as Vain said above, the price of admission is not going down.

Yes, a GMT is a good addition. Vintage or New, if it’s forever I would buy a BLNR new.
