Sending 2017 out with a sail!
I think this is the best way... with my mom at the helm and me relaxing.
My son at the helm. Looking aft with Point Loma off to port and downtown San Diego to starboard. We had a nice time today. It was a bit chilly out in the open ocean with winds up to 17 knots but clear skies and generally warm. Happy New Year everyone! Going to see the new Star Wars movie tomorrow and ring in the new year with my wife and son and my mom and step dad. |

This was kind of a cool sight. This is a replica of the San Salvador, a sailing vessel from the 1500s that was the first European ship to sail into what is now San Diego bay. It is part of the San Diego Maritime Museum. The Californian was also out today along with a good number of sailboats. Not much commercial or military traffic. It is not uncommon to see a Los Angeles class submarine or aircraft carrier sailing in or out of San Diego bay.

Great pics. The weather up "North" was fantastic today. No sailing but yard work with shirt off.
Happy New Year! |
