Explorer II - Black or White Dial ?

As you may have noticed from a recent thread, I am thinking of purchasing a black dial Exp II. The ADs I have spoken to tell me that the black dial is a bigger seller than the white dial, however I am interested in what the TRF thinks...

Thanks for voting/comments...

Cheers

The white dial is unusual amongst the Rolex sports models but I prefer the looks of the black. If you already own a Rolex with a black dial consider the white so you have something different to wear but if it's your only Rolex the deep black gloss is the way to go.

I think in this one you have to decide it yourself buddy...Your the one wearing it......if the black one strikes you first ..i will go for the black one...Like me im planning to get a pannie...i love the white dial but a lot of people saying black is more in demand...im truly liking the white dial i think its stunning...

I like the looks of the black dial better. However the white dial is rare in the sport model series.

Always an easy vote...........WHITE and as mentioned in the 1st post ,if you already own a black face watch then white makes 100% sense unless of course you dislike white

I have a polar dial which I like better since the black one is very similar to sub or gmt black.
of course you need to try it on and decide.

I went with this one, since I already have about 15 Black dial sport watches

I also like the fact this one flies under the radar and doesn't get noticed very much.

Hmmm... I can feel myself being drawn to the white dial...

...especially when I see something like this:
http://www.dream-watches.co.uk/watchsingle.asp?id=727

I believe this sold for around £10,000 - £12,000

Well me and my partner just bought 4 pieces of Explorer II !!! Two is black and two is white !!! I couldnt decide which one but my dream watch was the white Explorer !! I had a newspaper ad by Rolex on the Explorer II. Carried that ad in my wallet for years since my teens !!! Guess what.....i decided to take the black one !!! My wife and my other partner told me black was a watch that you wont get bored looking at and it is not as sporty looking as the white. Also i decided to choose black as i want to be discreet and not too flashy. The white would attract attention immediately !!! Of course opinions are subjective......

Please put two votes for black and two votes for white..........

Thanks again all. Now I know what prospective Daytona buyers feel like.

Actually I briefly owned a white dial Exp II in the 90s, but sold it to a friend in a moment of weakness. Would be nice to own another of either dial colour. I have a feeling this will come down to availabilty at the ADs.

Oops... just noticed the gaffe in my opening post: "the TRF"
That's like the restaurant "The La Trattoria" in the Hugh Grant movie Mickey Blue Eyes. Must... get... some... sleep..........

My son has the white dial and loves it. That particuliar watch looks just right on a young man's wrist.

BTW, I gave it to him.

I wanted white to replace this white:

Then I saw the beautiful black dial/white markers of the SDD and went with the black:
