What if your ROLEX was assembled outside Switzerland?

How would you react if you found out your ROLEX was assembled in a country other than Switzerland???

I will sell all 3 of mine, take the $$ and buy some gold with it and never look back at ROLEX ....

Lots of hypothetical questions being asked lately. :)

The chances of this happening, are more remote than the chances of the rotation of the earth reversing.

It won't say "swiss made" if not assembled in Swiss.
I don't think this will happen but it is does and maintains the quality, I may still consider it but I might not. Maybe I'll look at Seiko then

So if hypothetically Rolex moved their factory to Germany, Belguim or France and had the exact same facilities, staff and materials you wouldn't buy from them?

I know the 'Swiss Made' thing is a mark of distinction, but is it really that important where a watch is finally assembled, there's a few German watch companies that make fantastic watches and they've not felt the urge to move across the border.

I do especially if I pay 3000+ for a watch I would at least expect it to be made in SWISS, makes it more exclusive to know that product is only made in one city in one country! Were it originated from!

Well if it was overhauled outside of Switzerland, it was reassembled / assembled outside of Switzerland. If a 71 Ferrari Daytona (365 GTS/4) was restored in Spartanburg, South Carolina would it be an American car. Is a Mercedes built in Tuscaloosa County Alabama a German car.

It would make no difference to me providing the quality of the components and assembly remained the same.

some moderators of this board need to chill out ... they are a little too uptight about freedom of speech ... this is what I got from one moderator, regarding this topic:

The whole issue of a Rolex being made outside Switzerland as a notion is absurd, but that isn't why you were infracted.

You are asking people again to discriminate in their purchases based on country of manufacture and impliedly invite people to disparage one country from another. This will quite likely result in disharmony and disputation based on the ability of one country to make a product of the same quality as another.

You have been warned and you seem to have no regard for the rules or the consequences. You will be held responsible for any racial unrest your new thread creates.

INFRACTED??? For freedom of Speech??? WTF???? Who is running this board? some moderators need to find better things to do ....it is totally absurd....

Last defrosting of a tense situation was after the wife ate a few chili peppers.

Because the watch being made exclusively in Switzerland is to me what ROLEX is all about ... apart from their history and all, knowing it is in built in house in a small exclusive place is part of the appeal ....

Steel4me you were given an infraction for starting the thread:

No you chose to start a similar thread and were merely given a warning by way of a personal message.

By publishing that personal message and in the manner that you have, it appears that you wish to publicly disparage me. I don't really appreciate that, and it was totally unnecessary.
This is not a forum to do and say as you wish, there are people from all over the world and there are rules regarding decorum and issues which you agreed to abide when joining.
I'm quite surprised that you choose to make what was a private matter public and disparage a moderation action that was taken and one in no way prevented you from discussing the topic as you presented it in this thread.

So yes I am chilled.

Well said, well handled. Freedom of speech does not imply freedom from social responsibility.

That being said, and to stay on topic, I buy a Swiss watch because it's suppose to be Swiss made. That's not to say any country has a monopoly on quality, I suspect there are a lot of shoddy Swiss products. But when a company makes its reputation on its country of origin, moving is a little like betraying a public trust.
