Milgauss GV Easy to Find?

Hi all,

So I am on the hunt for my first Rolex, and have settled on the beautiful Milgauss GV. Ben Bridge and Royal Maui both shot me down. I put a couple calls in to others AD's and found 2 locally. I rushed down during lunch to see one, since I have never seen it in person. Beautiful. The thrill for me though was the rarity, yet I found 2 brand new at AD's in less than 30 mins. Was I just lucky to find these or are they becoming less rare? Just curious since I don't know too much about the Milgauss line. Now I am torn though between the GV and the standard black dial, which I still like... Wish I could nab both.

No modern Rolex is "rare" IMO, some are just more difficult to find. There are some pretty good deals from sellers on this forum, I would check them out before pulling the trigger.

if your getting a Milgauss, opt for the GV. Its more rare. The regular ones can be found at any AD window.

You should choose the one that appeals to you more and not base your decision purely because of rarity. I just bought the green GV but I too was smitten by the plain black dial model. I finally picked the GV because it was more colorful but it was a close call. Note however, that the GV is more expensive than the plain version.

And don't discount the white dial version too - it's also a very handsome watch.

You are pretty lucky. The GV is still rare. The regular black and white dials I've seen on display.

Was at an AD yesterday in Napa, CA and they said they have only received 2 GVs since they have been released.

Swiss Luxury is selling at $6,785 wire price. So anyone can get at MSRP at ADs I think is not bad.

I wonder how much investmd7 got?

The price bubble on the GV has definitely "busted". A year ago people were paying 2+ times MSRP for these and you couldn't find one anywhere. They are available now with a little research new for MSRP or preowned for even less. I just saw one sell for $5950 today on DABay. That I think is indicative of the current market.

There is also this dealer in Texas who is smoking some tumbleweeds and thinks the market is still up. He is asking $17,995 and claims they are impossible to find. I'll go out on a limb here and predict it isn't going to sell at that price anytime in the near future.

I think all three Milgauss watches are nice. I wouldn't worry about which is more rare as you will unlikely run into many people who have any of them so choose the one that suits your eye and enjoy.

In my area (So Cal) - it is still difficult to get a Milgauss GV. Black and White seem to be available without a lot of work - even the DSSD. I have still not seen SS Daytonas available either....

GV still difficult to come across, all Rolex watches as well as other hi-end goods are way down in price due to economy.
Eventually everything will come back, now is a great time to buy!

Update from Toronto,, The 2 AD at Bloor St. got at least one GV each on inventory, pick it up as you want... I think if if play well, u may get 5% off MSRP.. Also, I think u can get a Daytona now with 4 weeks wait time... I pay for my GV at Las Vegas in Feb.08 with 50% above msrp

For the last 9 months,, most of friends said,,, it's cool when they saw it 1st time,,, But change to it just too much color and Not a Rolex classic... or what's that fancy watch from Japan...

Anyway,, I bought the watch because it is special and future value ... But for my personal taste, I don't like it... toy watch..

the King- the price on the GV was $6,575. The Black Dial was $6,200, but they are willing to go 5% less on the black one, making it $5890. On the GV, I haven't found anyone willing to make me a deal.

I'd vote for the GV for sure. I got mine a couple of weeks ago (from Royal Maui) and love it. Good luck.

They are for sale on every forums sales corner, most for less than MSRP. If rarity is what you are looking for, I would seriously look at other brands that aren't so mass produced or brands that have lots of short production runs for a particular model.

I managed to buy from Ernest Jones at RRP. Waited a while though. Havn't sized it yet as I don't know if it's a keeper....already have the white dial and toi be honest prefer that. However the supposed rarity of the GV drove me to buy it.

It is a buyer's market with discounts like I have never before seen in my 38 years of following and purchasing the brand. MSRPs way too high, excessive inventories and reluctant buyers. Id say Rolex will have to begin limiting production in order to preserve the value of the name.
Way too many watches vs. not enough buyers with very willing to make a sale AD's.
Buyers delight if you have a need and the free cash flow to indulge.

Deals can be had on some. Haven't seen them on teh GV yet. All of my Rollies bought new at AD for MSRP, except Explorer II
