First Rolex: Sub Hulk vs. DJ Dark Rhodium

hello out there

so probaly my next trip will be to Amsterdam
and honestly , i cant decide between 2 of the watches.
both of them really beautiful for my taste.
i am 28 years an im searching for the ideal watch for Casual, Dress, and gym time . 24/7 :)
probaly after the purchase my next watch will be in the next 5-10 years, so i really checking carefully :)
i think the Hulk is more Sportive , but on the hand more "luxury" deep an the shades of the green are wonderful.
but maybe after a year it will be "rdicilous" (i dont know why, maybe because its not too formal and not too classic?)
and regret that I did not take a watch that more "traditional"
my concern if its really fit most events and dressing as well ,

the DJ classic, beautiful and should be fit to most occasions and dressing ,
but i find it little bit classic without "a twist"

Of the two, I like the DJ41, it is more versatile. Not sure if I would grow tired of the green, especially if it is my one nice watch. A DJ fits any occasion.

I believe as a one and only that the DJ would be my choice. The Hulk is great but for me it needs to be part of a larger collection.

And while the Sub can be worn with a suit (many have and will), it is not in a traditional sense a dress watch (neither is the DJ but much closer in terms of what a dress watch is). The DJ has more versatility and is easier to dress up or down.

If you’re talking only one watch then I would suggest the subC Black. It’s the most timeless Rolex imho

But between the two you mentioned then definetly hulk. I can’t see a DJ with fluted bezel at the gym but a hulk will fit at the gym and with a suit

Unless your profession causes your to spend most of your day in a suit, I would get the hulk.

You're 28, you should go a little more sporty. If you only wear a suit "on occasion", you can always pick up a nice vintage pie pan Omega "Connie" or the like down the road for a reasonable price.

Now if you're an investment banker or lawyer that's always in a suit get the DJ.

I would go Hulk. I actually own both and wear the Hulk 95% of the time. Hulk is very classy and sharp looking, even with a suit. If I wore a suit all the time then the DJ gets the nod but the LVc is too spectacular and separates itself from the herd too much not to go all in on one. The DJ with fluted bezel is a classy watch and has lots of “pop”, but the LVc is a different animal and wrist statement.
The DJ “blends”. The LVc makes a “statement”. Your personality will know what to choose.

Well I would try to pick up the green Sub first as it is more difficult to acquire. Then pick up the DJ as well. You can fight it all you want but most new buyers will be back sooner than they imagined for another Rolex. In the end you'll probably own both. So don't sweat the decision too much.

IMO, I would get the DJ. The Hulk is a beautiful piece, but it is very limiting. I always thought one would be cool to own, then I saw it in person. It’s like a hipster who is always wearing flannel, but cannot take the flannel off. It looks cool in certain situations, but in other situations, it just looks out of place because of the flannel. No offense to hulk owners, as I would personally wear one myself, but in limited occasions. The DJ would be my choice. Better yet, as a first Rolex, I would get a Sub C with or without date.

I have the LVC but was just thinking the rhodium DJ41 could be next for me. Not sure that pic is not of the black, rhodium is lighter.

My first and only watch is the Hulk. I just got it a week or so ago. I love it, it isn't going anywhere. But, I want a second watch (at least) to wear everyday as I just don't feel this is an all around one for everyday use. For me Ill primarily wear it at the beach and during the Summer months.

But the 41 is the perfect watch for a first or an only.

Imho, it’s the best all around watch in the market today. Hands down.

Lvc is great. But not even close in versatility. Not even close.

Couple of thoughts.

Love the LV-C, but for me, it works best in a collection of other pieces. Not sure I could live with the green as my one and only. And don't get me wrong, I love the green. So I would look at the LN if you're looking for one watch that can get you through everything for the next 4-5 years.

On the DJ...that's a wonderful picture, but I would probably go smooth bezel to dress it down a little and increase the sporty factor. And...maybe put it on a jubilee. Good luck,
