James Cameron Deep Sea

I was offered a D Blue recently and declined seeing as my wrists are small.anything over 40mm I’ve never really taken any notice of and I never knew much about the history of this watch.
The AD salesman was telling me that he expected them to be out of production soon and it would be a great investment, since I’ve walked away I’ve been wondering if a made a big mistake.
Are these watches still a ‘Hot watch ‘ or was it just the usual salesman pitch ?

If you ask me...Just a bunch of twaddle from a salesman...

Buy a watch that you will wear and enjoy everyday...

Now THAT'S a great investment...

Yes it's a hot watch. Does that mean it's a good investment? Who knows?? I've been offered one in the past but it's just way too big for me so I passed on it with no regrets. Best thing to do is just buy what you like!

Yeah it was just too big for me , leaving it sat in a safe for s few years would be a waste of a good watch .
I did love it though , just a shame my wrists are so small

Totally agree. It’s a beautiful dial. Wish I could rock it but it’s just not for me!

Absolutly hot watch next to the Daytona. Good investment? From today's perspective yes.
Buy it and love it! She has one of the most beautiful faces.

I’m the opposite, I had been on a list for years and finally got the call. I didn’t need any chat from the AD about the story as I knew the story. I loved the story and the watch and couldn’t resist it.

Yes it’s big and chunky but an incredible watch that will certainly be collectible. I have small wrists too but just find it such a lovely and interesting piece.

In a way I’m glad when people not certain don’t take one when offered. The next person called may love the Watch and really appreciate it.

Yeah I guess that sort of sales pitch is the reason so many get resold to grey dealers

awesome dial but not the easiest watch to wear. flipping value isn't that strong so you'd have to wait a bit to make your money back.

Definitely still a hot watch, not sure I’d call it an investment. If you could pick one up new from an AD and had a change of heart you would recoup your outlay with minimal effort

IMO not that hot. I've seen several at local ADs when hunting for an SD43.

In your case I'd lean against getting it. Small wrist + massive watch: you can only know once you try it on and then decide for yourself.

As I said, it's not that hot if it's hard to flip

I would agree that this is a hot watch and I would think that it has good potential as a future investment. However, if you're just looking for a watch to wear and enjoy and this is too large (which it is IMO) then don't feel bad about your decision.

Buy what you like and what you know your wear!
Having said that I did the exact same thing you did but went back and bought it a couple of months later. It’s the best one in my collection imo
And yes it will be discontinued, if not this year, in the next couple of years. This was a mid year production to celebrate a very specific occasion so it’s not meant to be produced forever, rather “an event production” that will get discontinued sooner or later especially that the black version that’s here to stay probably!

You should have asked him what time frame and exit price for that "investment"!

If you're not buying it for the love of the watch and the wrist time it deserves, pass. Sales guy is just being a sales guy.
Personally, one of my all time favorite watches.

First...Define “good investment.”

What pray tell, sort of super-normal gains do you think you’ll accrue on that watch...a watch you won’t be wearing?

Doesn’t sound like much fun to me.

I have small wrists. I had to play with bracelet links and balance a couple of times until I got it where I wanted it.

Even with the glidelock it took some adjustment. Once I got there, it feels great.

Hot? I’m not sure but I walked into an AD in the US Midwest last March and asked. He sold it to me without reservation.

I think a lot of this talk of rarity and limited availability is purely hype and artificial. I also found a 116500LN Daytona C in white the same way, but that was international.

I agree with others here; buy what you will wear.

I think you must have been in the right place at the right time, I’m sure many will agree with me I’m yet to see a Daytona SS 500 behind an AD counter.
Do you do the lottery?

This is indeed a spectacular piece and very desirable.
But Cameron himself wore the Black DSSD and not the piece, unless Im mistaken?..:)
id go with what I have, which is the black one
If i had the $$, this would be a toss up between The Pepsi GMT or this one..:)

Two great watches! I love the Pepsi and love my JC but with JC at MSRP still at ADs(when found) when it gets discontinued in the next 1-2 years, it’s value will skyrocket. The Pepsi already has. So you will always be able to get a Pepsi similar to what you can have it for today but will never be able to get a new JC again!!
