New Sub

I'm already first on the list at my trusted AD in case a new Sub with new caliber, in 40mm, is launched.

The beauty of the older Rolex watches is the way the cases flow nicely around the wrist. But then the Big Watch virus infected the market and the beauty is gone. It would be SO awesome if Rolex launched a new Submariner in 40mm, new 3235 caliber, thinner lugs, rounded case, convex crystal, and one line of red lettering in the dial.

Certainly interesting that you are on a list for a watch that currently doesn’t exist. Maybe I should contact my AD also and sees what he has to say.

"...in case a new Sub..." Helps when you take the time to read, if you can, that is.

I got on the list for the SD43 before it was announced at Basel. Based on all the speculation here about a new 50th anniversary model I figured it was a safe bet. My AD kind of laughed at starting a list for a watch that no one knew existed, but did anyway.

Maybe I'll go get on the list for the SS DD...

Indeed, I did too, and I was the first to get the call. Except that when they launched the watch at 43mm I declined. However, when speaking earlier to my friend, the AD, I asked him to call me the next time he gets a Sea Dweller to try it on. I might like it on the wrist and buy it.

I was hoping the SD announced last year would have the dial green fading to black similar to the Deep Blue. There's a mock up floating around here and on the Internet. That's what I really wanted. A larger case never occured to me. But when I tried on the SD43 and the red lettering and improved movement I still wanted it. And I'm glad I did as I really enjoy it.

Even if a new Sub drops this year, the typical pattern is to start with PM. We might not see it in SS for a few years.

The odds of a red line are also very slim.

You are right. But who knows. I might get lucky.
